“Two pre-apocalyptic robots are on a quest to redeem their future back and build a time machine to prevent the devastating disaster,” Paste Magazine wrote of “Future Back,” in a review the Rive Video Promotion campaign shared. Paste praised India’s vocals and the band’s “well crafted electro pop and funky soundscape.”

A timely request

Sleeping Bag Studios agreed: “the world could really use a light-hearted anthem with positive intentions like their new single has right in the here & now,” adding that the band is “simply requesting that we get our ‘Future Back.’”

From Chapel Hill to New York

The band began in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as a seven-piece organic alt-rock and trip-hop group around India and guitarist B. Rhyan, released the debut AOA, then moved to the New York area and added dub and electronica on Rocket Science for Dummies. Croatian composer and programmer Ivica completed the trio. “I grew up on Weather Report and Spyro Gyra, and I eventually found myself in New York wearing flip flops and shorts and going two blocks to play with these musicians,” Ivica recalls.

Why it was in the inbox

A dance song with a conscience and a robot storyline: “Future Back” is exactly the kind of record this band makes best.
