What is Exposed Vocals?

Exposed Vocals is an independent-music publication, discovery platform, artist network and professional-development system. Artists can publish music videos, build living professional profiles, connect editorial coverage, share activity through The Signal and prepare for relevant industry opportunities.

EV has supported independent music since 2006 and is continuing to grow from a publication and music-video destination into a professional music network.

Who is Exposed Vocals for?

EV is designed for independent artists and bands, listeners, publicists, managers, labels and other music professionals.

Artists use EV to present their work and build a professional footprint. Listeners use it to discover music and follow artist activity. Industry professionals can evaluate artists through their music, video, coverage and professional information, with structured opportunity and demo tools planned for the next development phase.

Is it free to join?

Yes. Creating an EV account and starting a basic profile is free. Artists can also publish eligible YouTube-linked music videos without paying EV to host the file.

EV offers optional paid services such as reviews, interviews, EPK development, video premieres, release launches and promotional campaigns. Purchasing a service does not buy verification, chart movement, professional ranking or guaranteed results.

What should I do first?

Create your account, confirm your email and begin your profile. Add the information that helps people understand who you are, then connect your music, video, releases and professional details.

Your dashboard will show which parts of your Professional Footprint are complete and provide direct next actions.

Accounts and sign-in

How do I create an account?

Open the Join page, enter your information, choose a secure password and agree to the site terms. EV will send an email-confirmation link to the address you provide.

Your password must contain at least 10 characters and should not be based on your name or email address.

Join Exposed Vocals

Why do I need to confirm my email?

Email confirmation helps protect accounts and verifies that you can receive important account messages. New members must confirm their email before publishing a public profile.

If you created your account through an approved Google or Facebook sign-in option, that provider may satisfy the email-confirmation requirement automatically.

I did not receive the confirmation email. What should I do?

Check Spam, Promotions and other filtered folders first. Make sure the address on your account is correct, then use the resend option in your dashboard.

If messages still do not arrive, contact EV Support and include your account email address. Never send your password.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Open the Forgot Password page and enter the email address connected to your account. If an eligible account exists, EV will send a single-use reset link.

For privacy, the screen will not confirm whether a particular email address is registered.

Reset My Password

Why am I temporarily unable to sign in?

EV limits repeated sign-in attempts to protect accounts. Several incorrect attempts may create a short temporary lock, even if the correct password is entered afterward.

Wait for the lock period to end, then try again or reset your password. Avoid repeatedly submitting the form during the lock.

Where is the WordPress dashboard?

Regular members do not use the WordPress administration area. EV account, profile, media and network tools are available through the front-end EV dashboard.

The EV Control entrance is for authorized staff administrators only. A normal member account will not work there.

How do I sign out?

Use Sign Out from your EV account menu. EV will return you to the public site after ending your session.

Can I delete my account?

Contact EV Support from the email address connected to your account and request account deletion. Some information may need to be retained when required for completed orders, legal compliance, fraud prevention, moderation or audit records. Public content and profile visibility will be addressed as part of the request.

Artist profiles

What is an EV artist profile?

An EV artist profile is a living professional identity—not just a social biography. It can bring together your music, videos, releases, EV coverage, outside press, professional information, current activity and connections.

The goal is to give artists one lasting place that becomes more useful as their work grows.

Is an artist profile the same as an EPK?

The profile is designed to function as a living EPK while also connecting to the rest of EV. A traditional EPK is often a static page or PDF. An EV profile can continue accumulating releases, videos, editorial proof and activity over time.

Artists who need hands-on help organizing or presenting their materials can also use EV’s optional EPK services.

What information should I add?

Begin with:

  • Artist or band name.
  • Profile image and approved press photographs.
  • Location and genre.
  • Artist biography.
  • Public music and video links.
  • Current and past releases.
  • Official website and social links.
  • Booking, press or professional contact preferences.
  • Existing press coverage.
  • What you are currently seeking, such as reviews, promotion, management, booking, collaboration or sync opportunities.

Only publish information you are comfortable making public.

Why can’t I publish my profile?

New accounts must confirm their email before a profile can be published. Your profile may also be missing a required identity field or may have been restricted after a moderation or security issue.

Check the notices in your dashboard. They should explain the missing step without requiring you to guess.

Can I claim an artist profile that already exists?

EV may create or preserve artist identities connected to earlier editorial coverage and music-video records. Claim tools are designed to let the appropriate artist or authorized representative take control after providing enough information to confirm the relationship.

Do not create multiple profiles for the same artist merely because an older identity exists. Use the available claim route or contact EV Support with the profile address and evidence of your connection.

What is EV Verified?

EV Verified confirms that Exposed Vocals reviewed evidence connecting a profile to a real artist, representative or controlled public presence.

Eligible members receive a unique verification code to place temporarily on a website or social profile they control. The EV team reviews the submitted evidence and can approve it, request more information, decline it or later remove verification when necessary.

Verification is never for sale and does not improve ranking, chart position or matching priority.

Why was my verification request declined?

A request may be declined when EV cannot confirm control, the evidence does not match the profile, required information is missing or the request violates verification rules.

The decision should include a reason or request for additional information. Do not send passwords, credit-card numbers or other highly sensitive information as proof.

Professional Footprint and completion percentages

What is my Professional Footprint?

Your Professional Footprint is EV’s guided view of the public assets and career information connected to your profile. It helps you see what is already represented and what could be strengthened next.

The dashboard is organized into six areas:

  • Identity — who you are and how you are presented.
  • Music — releases, tracks and streaming links.
  • Video — music videos, visual releases and premieres.
  • Reviews — credible track and album coverage.
  • Artist Story — biography, interviews and long-form context.
  • Promotion — release support and campaign activity.
What does the percentage mean?

The percentage shows how much of that section’s professional information or content is currently represented on your EV profile.

It is not a talent score, popularity score, ranking or prediction of career success. A lower percentage does not mean the artist is less talented. It means that section of the professional footprint has fewer completed elements.

How do I increase a section’s percentage?

Open the section and follow the recommended next actions. Depending on the category, that might mean adding profile information, connecting music, publishing a video, linking existing press or completing another relevant profile task.

Some actions are free. Other buttons lead to optional EV services such as a music review, album review, interview, artist biography, video premiere, release launch or promotional campaign.

Do I have to buy services to complete my profile?

No. Essential identity and media information can be added without purchasing a service. Paid services are optional ways to create new editorial, promotional or professional assets.

The dashboard may recommend a service when it fits a missing part of your Professional Footprint, but buying it does not purchase verification, chart movement or matching preference.

Why did my percentage change?

A percentage can change when content is added, removed, unpublished, no longer linked to your identity or when EV improves the completeness rules.

If something you previously completed no longer appears, check whether the connected content is still public and whether it is linked to the correct profile. Contact support when a valid item is missing.

Does 100% guarantee discovery or an industry opportunity?

No. A complete profile can make it easier for people to understand and evaluate your work, but it cannot guarantee streams, fans, press, playlist placement, meetings, representation or a deal.

Completion means your professional materials are represented. The quality and relevance of the work still require human judgment.

Music and video

How do I publish a music video?

Use EV’s video-publishing route, sign in and provide the public YouTube link along with the artist, song, genre and release information requested by the form.

EV embeds the video from YouTube. You do not upload the MP4 file to Exposed Vocals.

Publish My Video

Does video publishing cost anything?

Basic YouTube-linked video publishing is free. EV also offers optional paid video-premiere, editorial and promotional services when an artist wants more context or coordinated support around a release.

How many videos can I publish?

EV’s standard video route is designed for unlimited eligible YouTube-linked submissions. Every submission must still comply with site rules, rights requirements and moderation policies.

Will my video be reviewed before it appears?

The EV platform is designed for immediate publishing followed by moderation. Eligible imports and submissions are not placed into a general editorial-review queue merely to appear as videos.

Editorial articles, interviews, reviews and premieres are separate products or consideration routes and may require staff review.

Why was my video hidden or removed?

A video may be hidden when the YouTube source becomes unavailable, private, restricted or removed, or when the submission violates EV’s rules or another party’s rights.

EV periodically checks linked videos. An unavailable-video action can be reversed if the source becomes valid again and the content remains eligible.

Why is my video not showing on my artist profile?

EV can only connect media confidently when the artist identity is known. Older video records may use title text rather than a confirmed profile relationship, and similarly named artists can create ambiguity.

EV is expanding video-to-profile linking and profile-claim tools. If a video clearly belongs to you but is not connected, contact support with the profile and video addresses.

Can I upload audio files directly?

EV’s platform direction prioritizes public embeds from established music and video services rather than duplicating every audio file. Add the supported public listening links requested by your profile or submission form.

Do I keep ownership of my music?

Yes. Publishing a link, embed or eligible submission on EV does not transfer ownership of your music to Exposed Vocals. You must have the right and permission to submit the content and accompanying images, text and credits.

Editorial coverage

What kinds of editorial coverage does EV publish?

EV publishes artist interviews, track reviews, album reviews, new-release stories, independent-music news, music videos and practical artist-development coverage through The Grind.

Editorial work focuses on the artist’s story, creative process, sound, meaning and professional context—not simply repeating a press release.

How do I pitch an interview or article?

Use the editorial-contact route and send a focused, complete pitch. Include:

  • A direct public music or video link.
  • A concise artist biography or release summary.
  • Release date and relevant credits.
  • A clear story angle.
  • Official website and social links.
  • A high-resolution horizontal press image.
  • Photographer or artwork credit.
  • Confirmation that EV has permission to publish the supplied image.

One complete pitch is more useful than repeated incomplete follow-ups.

Pitch My Story

Is editorial coverage guaranteed?

No. Editorial consideration is reviewed for fit, readiness, accuracy and available publishing capacity. EV may decline, request additional information or choose a different editorial format.

Paid services cover defined professional work and publication deliverables where described. Payment never buys praise, a particular opinion or a guaranteed industry result.

Are reviews always positive?

No. A credible review cannot be purchased as guaranteed praise. EV’s goal is considered, useful coverage that takes the music seriously while protecting editorial trust.

What is the difference between a video post and a video premiere?

A standard video post publishes an eligible YouTube-linked video through EV’s free video route. A video premiere is an optional enhanced service that can add dedicated presentation, written context or coordinated visibility around the release, depending on the current offer.

Can I send an unreleased track?

Only send unreleased or embargoed material when the submission route permits it and the release instructions are explicit. Advance listening or download links must not be made public without permission.

EV embeds public media only when it is already released or when the rights holder has clearly authorized publication.

What happens after my article is published?

The artist receives a permanent public link that can be shared with fans, venues, publicists, labels, managers and other contacts. Published EV coverage can also become part of the artist’s profile and Professional Footprint when linked to the correct identity.

Can I request a correction?

Yes. Contact EV with the article address, the exact information that is incorrect and reliable supporting information. Corrections address factual problems; they do not guarantee that editorial opinions or conclusions will be rewritten.

Artist services and Agency Press Desk

What paid services does EV offer?

Offers may include track and album reviews, interviews, featured write-ups, artist biographies, digital EPK development, video premieres, release launches, strategy and promotional campaigns.

Available products, scope and pricing are shown on the relevant service page at the time of purchase.

How do I know which service fits my release?

Start with the outcome you need:

  • I need stronger presentation — improve your profile, biography or EPK.
  • I need credible context — consider an interview, track review or album review.
  • I need a video asset featured — publish the video or consider a premiere.
  • I need coordinated release support — explore a release launch or campaign.
  • I manage multiple artists — review Agency Press Desk.

Your Professional Footprint may recommend a next step based on what is missing, but the choice remains yours.

What is Agency Press Desk?

Agency Press Desk is designed for publicists, managers, labels and teams managing recurring coverage across a roster. It provides an ongoing relationship with the EV editorial desk under the limits and editorial standards of the selected plan.

Submissions still require complete materials and remain subject to eligibility, accuracy, rights and editorial review. A subscription does not guarantee praise or make every submission publishable.

Does buying a service improve my match position?

No. Purchases are excluded from professional matching. They may create useful public assets that a human can review, but payment itself does not increase rank or preference.

Does buying coverage guarantee streams or label attention?

No. EV does not guarantee streams, followers, playlist placement, press pickup, meetings, representation, a record deal or another career outcome.

The service provides the work described on the product page: editorial production, presentation, campaign support or another defined deliverable.

The Signal and connections

What is The Signal?

The Signal is EV’s live activity layer. Artists can share updates, photos and release activity. Listeners and professionals can follow relevant accounts, respond and see what is moving across the network.

The Signal helps a profile remain active between major releases and editorial features.

What do Signal, Echo, Reply and Share mean?
  • Signal shows support for a post.
  • Echo republishes a post into your network activity.
  • Reply adds to the conversation beneath the original post.
  • Share lets you send or copy the public post address.
Can I add a photo?

Supported Signal posts can include one JPEG, PNG or WebP image up to 5 MB. EV processes the image for display and removes unnecessary metadata.

Only upload images you own or have permission to publish.

What alerts will I receive?

Alerts can include replies, mentions, Signals, Echoes and new followers. Muted or blocked accounts should not generate alerts for you.

What is the difference between following and connecting?

Following helps you keep up with another profile’s public activity. A connection represents a more direct network relationship. EV may use different permissions or workflows for each as professional features expand.

Neither relationship guarantees access to private contact information or a response.

How do I mute someone?

Use the More menu on the person’s Signal post and choose Mute. Their posts will be removed from your normal view without notifying them. Manage muted accounts from the Muted page.

How do I block someone?

Use the More menu and choose Block. Blocking hides their activity from you and prevents certain interactions, including following and engagement with your posts. EV does not notify the blocked account.

How do I report a post or account?

Choose Report and select the reason that best describes the issue, such as spam, inappropriate content, copyright or another concern. Reports go to EV’s moderation workflow for review.

A report does not automatically prove a violation. EV may hide, restore, dismiss or take another action after review.

Music votes and Rising Artists

How do music votes work?

Eligible members can use a thumbs-up or thumbs-down vote on supported video pages. Pressing the same choice again removes the vote.

Artists cannot vote on their own music, and EV applies limits and account-age protections to reduce manipulation.

What determines the Rising Artists chart?

The chart reflects qualifying music votes during the current chart period. It considers eligible voters and requires enough independent participation before an artist can appear.

Open the chart’s “How it works” explanation for the current detailed rules.

Can I pay to move up the chart?

No. Only eligible music votes can move an artist on the Rising Artists chart. Purchases, verification and professional matching do not change chart position.

Does chart position improve professional matching?

No. The chart represents community voting. Matching evaluates relevance to a defined professional need. The systems are deliberately separated.

Coming in the next EV development phase

Professional matching and opportunities

What is EV building?

EV is developing professional profiles, structured opportunity briefs and filtered demo workflows for labels, managers, publicists, publishers, bookers, radio programmers, music supervisors and other verified industry participants.

The goal is to help artists understand where they genuinely fit and help professionals review a manageable set of relevant submissions.

How will matching work?

Matching will begin with stated intent and opportunity requirements. Relevant information may include genre, territory, career stage, availability, release readiness, rights status, language, clean or explicit version, instrumental availability, stems and other required materials.

EV will first remove submissions that do not meet non-negotiable requirements. Eligible results can then be grouped using plain-language fit descriptions and factual reasons.

Will EV show a match percentage?

No. EV will not reduce professional fit to a public percentage, star rating or romantic-style heart. A recommendation will explain the facts that aligned and leave the professional decision to people.

Can artists pay to rank higher?

No. EV matching will not use purchases, verification status, music votes or chart position as ranking advantages.

Does a match guarantee a response or deal?

No. A relevant match means the known profile and submission information aligns with stated requirements. It does not guarantee a listen, response, meeting, representation, placement, booking or contract.

Some future opportunity briefs may include a defined response commitment. That commitment will be stated clearly on the brief.

How should artists prepare now?

Complete your profile honestly, confirm your contact preferences, organize public music and video links, add relevant coverage and keep professional information current.

For opportunities involving licensing, prepare accurate ownership, publishing, split, PRO, ISRC, instrumental, clean-version, stem and territory information where applicable.

Purchases, orders and billing

Where can I find my purchases?

Open your EV account dashboard and review the Orders or Purchase History area. Available receipts, order status and service information should appear with the corresponding purchase.

What should I include when contacting billing support?

Include:

  • Your name.
  • The email used at checkout.
  • Order number.
  • Product or subscription name.
  • Date of purchase.
  • A concise description of the problem.

Do not send your full card number, account password or private payment credentials.

Can I buy a service without creating a public artist profile?

Some products may allow checkout without a completed public profile. However, connecting a purchase to the correct EV identity makes it easier to organize the resulting work, coverage and Professional Footprint.

How do subscription cancellations work?

Use the subscription controls provided in your account or payment service when available. Cancellation normally stops future renewals; it does not automatically reverse work already completed or currently in production.

Contact billing support when the cancellation control is unavailable or the subscription status appears incorrect.

Can I request a refund?

Refund eligibility depends on the product, whether work has begun, whether deliverables have already been produced and the terms shown at purchase. Send the order number and request as soon as possible.

EV will review the specific order rather than promise that every completed or active service can be refunded.

Why is my order still processing?

Editorial and professional services require materials, review and production time. Check whether EV requested missing links, images, credits, permissions or answers.

If the order has no update and you supplied everything requested, contact support with the order number.

Safety, privacy and rights

What information should I never send to EV?

Never send account passwords, complete payment-card numbers, banking credentials, authentication codes or private keys. EV verification and support processes do not require your password.

Who can see my profile information?

Information published on a public profile can be viewed by site visitors and may be indexed by search engines. Use the available privacy and contact controls, and do not publish a private phone number, home address or personal information you do not want public.

How does EV handle copyright complaints?

Use the DMCA or copyright-contact route and provide the specific page, the protected work, your relationship to the rights and the information required for EV to evaluate the request.

Do not use the report system to make knowingly false ownership claims.

Open DMCA Information

What happens when content is reported?

EV reviews the content, the report reason and available evidence. Staff may dismiss the report, hide content, restore content or take another appropriate moderation action.

Serious or repeated violations can affect content or account access.

Can EV remove a profile impersonating me?

Report the profile and provide evidence showing your identity or authority to act for the artist or organization. EV may request additional proof before transferring, restricting or removing the profile.

How does EV use my information for matching?

Future matching will use structured profile and opportunity information to determine relevance. Private contact information and unreleased material should be shared only through the permissions and workflow provided for that purpose.

EV will not treat a purchase as a professional qualification.

Troubleshooting

A page is not loading correctly. What should I try?

Refresh the page, sign out and back in, and try a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. If the issue continues, note the page address, device, browser and what happened immediately before the problem.

A screenshot is useful when it does not expose passwords, payment details or private information.

A button sends me to the wrong page.

Copy the address of the page containing the button and the address where it sent you. Include both in your support message so EV can identify the exact route.

My content appears under the wrong artist.

Send the content address, the incorrect profile address and the correct profile address. Do not create duplicate identities as a workaround unless support instructs you to do so.

My profile or post disappeared.

Check your dashboard for moderation, verification or publishing notices. Content can also disappear when an external media source becomes unavailable or a relationship to the profile changes.

Contact support with the exact public address or title when no explanation appears.

I found incorrect information in an EV article.

Send the article address, the exact sentence or fact and reliable supporting information. EV can correct factual errors while preserving legitimate editorial analysis and opinion.
