Manu Grace Turns Misadventure Into Agency on “Oh Man, I’ve Done It Again?”

Manu Grace released the EP Oh Man, I’ve Done It Again? on October 23, 2026, gathering songs about love, grief, infatuation and the uneasy moment when strong feeling starts to demand commitment. The South African songwriter, artist and producer developed the project across Cape Town, Berlin and London, turning years of writing and revision into a more deliberate statement about agency.

A project shaped by choosing

The EP’s title carries Manu Grace’s self-aware humour, but its central shift is serious. Her release notes describe a cycle of falling into relationships, feeling intensely and then recoiling when those feelings call for commitment. Instead of releasing songs as soon as they were written, Grace chose from a larger body of material and took firmer control of the project’s final shape.

That selection process became part of the meaning. Grace says the work taught her to trust her ears and defend difficult production decisions. Early versions moved between collaborators Robin Brink and Ross Dorkin as Ableton sessions travelled across countries; repeated recording and revision eventually gave the EP its present form.

Grief at the center of “Can You See Me?”

Focus track “Can You See Me?” carries one of the project’s most personal stories. Written after the death of Grace’s father, it was among the first songs through which she could put that grief into words. She describes its place on the EP as “a bridge between who I was prior” and the person she has become since.

The song began shortly after her move to London, during a period when she felt disconnected from music and from the reason she had moved. According to the supplied account, she forced herself to attend a writing session despite resisting it throughout the journey. The experience became a reminder that creative resistance and creative need can exist at the same time.

From Cape Town to London

Born and raised in Cape Town’s Southern Peninsula and now based in London, Grace works as both an artist and producer. Her biography connects poetry, melody, groove and an observational sense of humour, with songs that return to the messier parts of being human.

That approach has already brought two South African Music Award nominations, for Best Alternative Music Album and Female Artist of the Year. She has also supported John Cale, Alex G and Maya Hawke on UK and European dates, while Zane Lowe previously selected “Two Weeks” as a World First.

Oh Man, I’ve Done It Again? is available now. Its release adds a new chapter to a catalogue built across continents, with “Can You See Me?” providing the clearest emotional doorway into the project.
