The Miami music scene has a bit of a chip on its shoulder. For years, touring bands seldom made it this far south, Miami music venues were few and far between, and just when an artist would start to gain some traction, they’d hightail it to New York City or L.A. But the state of Miami music has, like much of the city, grown at a breakneck pace over the past decade. There is a revolution brewing from within, courtesy of a new generation of Miami musicians who are putting down roots in South West Florida, building thriving careers and, in the process, laying old stereotypes to rest. Artists like ‘Kaiju The Unconquerable’ released a new episode (ep8) is a testament to this.

If you take one thing away—just one—from Kaiju’s music, let it be this: His music and filmography —which bounces from rap to hip-hop and trap with a foggy ease—proves a tantalizing appetizer for underground heads with a taste for bizarre feels. 9.1 is one of the highest scores we’ve ever given. I’ll break that down a bit… You see, the barriers of entry to become a music video director are lower than ever. Anyone with a camera phone can try their hand at the art form, but it takes a special kind of talent to have the artistic vision and skill set necessary to execute a memorable music video / short film that stands out from all the noise. Now, pretty much all good music videos are memorable, not just because the song is good. To put together a music video that gets attention, work with the artist to develop a full narrative for the video. Viewers aren’t going to watch a four-minute long music video where a woman walks through a field for the whole time. However, if she encounters a band of zombies in the field and must flee for her life, you’ve got an idea. Kaiju’s short film/ Music Video for GOT II : The Restoration of Akumetsu (embedded above) is a prime example of this creative process and we loved every minute of it!

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I’m from Miami started making music in 06 been doing music for 13 years. I wanted to become an artist because my family was mixed with creativity so I guess it was natural
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Keep grinding airplay is great but the internet is global focus on the net and you’ll capture your radios later
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Yeah not bringing water on stage because your mouth can get dry so ill steal one from the dj if i have to lol

Touring for the first time this year so I’m hype that will be announced soon

Probably in Japan with old Kanye west and probably in NYC with prime DMX
