Michael Coleman’s Phoenix-based collective reworks a longtime favorite as a country-rock anthem for the end of the working week.

See Your Shadow return on October 30 with “Weekend (Can’t Get Here Soon Enough),” a new single that arrives on the heels of “Another Saturday,” which reached No. 1 on the Independent Music Network Country Songs chart. The Phoenix-based country collective is led by Michael Coleman and released through MTS Records.

An old song, rebuilt

Rather than introducing an untested idea, the band went back into its own catalog. The release materials describe “Weekend” as a longtime favorite reinvented as a high-energy country-rock track, built to capture the feel of a live show with a singalong chorus and a foot-stomping arrangement.

That choice says something about how the collective works. Songs that have already earned a place with audiences get a second life rather than being retired, and the new version is aimed squarely at the room.

Written for the working week

The song’s subject is a familiar one in country music: hardworking people and the release that comes on a Friday afternoon. Its title, with the parenthetical “Can’t Get Here Soon Enough,” makes the point before a note is played.

See Your Shadow have built a steady run in independent country, with the campaign citing nine consecutive No. 1 singles and several industry awards. “Weekend” is the latest entry in that run, and the first new single since the chart success of “Another Saturday.”
