Exposed Vocals: What inspired you to start playing piano and organ at such a young age, and how did those early experiences shape your sound today?
Kenny: I was inspired by Ray Charles at age 8, and I dreamed of playing like him one day. Today, I do it easily and effortlessly because of years of hard work. Once I discovered I had God’s gift of feel and soul, I nurtured the gift, which led to my extraordinary playing today!

Exposed Vocals: You turned professional at just 15 — what was that transition like, moving from a young musician to performing professionally?
Kenny: It taught me a great deal about responsibility and work ethic, now that I was getting paid for my craft.
Exposed Vocals: You’ve toured the world with major names in R&B and Pop, including Van Morrison and Charlie Gracie. What were some of the most memorable moments from those tours?
Kenny: The most memorable moments were meeting all the celebrities and movie stars backstage—fans of Van Morrison and Charlie Gracie (R.I.P.) who also became fans of me through our shared stage presence.
Exposed Vocals: As a conductor for The Tymes during their hit “So Much in Love,” how did that experience influence your approach to music direction and performance?
Kenny: It taught me the importance of flawless perfection in live performance. People know every nuance of a big hit and pay to hear the record performed accurately.
Exposed Vocals: You’ve worked with legendary acts from Sly & The Family Stone to The Delfonics. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from collaborating with such iconic artists?
Kenny: That they are famous for a reason—they are innovators, trendsetters, and unique contributors to the music industry with extraordinary talent.
Exposed Vocals: Your connection to Linda Creed’s legacy is remarkable. What was it like producing her unreleased catalog, and how did that project impact you personally and professionally?
Kenny: Producing Linda’s songs made my productions beautiful because of the vivid pictures she painted with her timeless lyrics. It helped elevate my creativity and skillset. Producing comes naturally to me, and for that I’m thankful and blessed.
Exposed Vocals: With Linda Creed having written so many timeless hits, did you feel any creative pressure when producing her material, or was it more of an inspiring experience?
Kenny: No pressure at all. I was made to be a producer, inspired by my idols Burt Bacharach and Michael Masser (Linda’s co-writer of “The Greatest Love of All”).

Exposed Vocals: You’ve been both a performer and a producer. How do those two roles differ for you in terms of creative satisfaction?
Kenny: Both are uniquely satisfying!
Exposed Vocals: Out of all the artists you’ve toured or worked with — from Billy Paul to Justin Guarini — who surprised you the most musically, and why?
Kenny: Sly Stone, by far. He was my first mentor and idol—a true musical genius.
Exposed Vocals: Looking back at your incredible career, what advice would you give young musicians hoping to build longevity and authenticity in today’s ever-changing music industry?
Kenny: Study hard, practice constantly, keep your eye on the prize, and never give up on your dream!
