ZANO’s “Search For Me” – A Tribute That Still Echoes: Where Do Things Stand in the Jennifer Lynn Duffy Case?
It’s been more than two decades since Jennifer Lynn Duffy, a 21-year-old mother from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, was brutally murdered in her own home. On the night of September 25th, 1991, Jennifer was stabbed to death while her infant daughter lay sleeping beside her. Despite investigations by both local and federal authorities, no one has ever been convicted, and her case remains open — and unsolved.
In 2017, Los Angeles dance-rock band ZANO, together with director David Kinsler — a longtime family friend — released the powerful single and video, “Search For Me,” in Jennifer’s memory. Shot across multiple cities and featuring a stirring visual narrative, the project was intended as both a tribute and a plea for justice.
A Personal Mission
For Kinsler, the project was deeply personal. He remembers getting the devastating call back in college, learning that his friend had been killed:
“Jennifer was truly an amazing human being… After all these years, and still no closure on her case, I simply wanted to offer a gift to her family and the city of New Smyrna Beach — a musical tribute to scream loud and clear, ‘We haven’t forgotten you, Jennifer.’”
ZANO frontman Brandon Zano echoed the sentiment, describing how the story moved him to be part of the tribute:
“When David told me Jennifer’s story, I never even flinched. I knew we had to be a part of this.”
The result was a cathartic and heartfelt video that honored Jennifer’s life while spotlighting the pain and unanswered questions still faced by her family — especially her brother, Michael Sean Duffy, and her now-grown daughter.
Still Waiting for Justice
Jennifer’s family has never stopped seeking answers. Michael Duffy stated:
“There’s not a day that goes by that my family and I don’t remember her. We all loved her so much… I still believe we’ll see justice for Jennifer — hopefully, soon.”
Despite the passage of time, the case remains open with the New Smyrna Beach Police Department, and investigators still encourage tips from the public that could lead to a breakthrough.

We’re Still Searching
Jennifer Lynn Duffy was more than a name in a case file — she was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a mother. Her life mattered. And until justice is found, her story deserves to be told, shared, and remembered.
