Wendinmi holds nothing back on the absolute rush that is “Be Yourself”. Rhythms here are brought to the absolute breaking point. The song virtually trips over itself as it races on through. His vocals further add to this spirit of anything being possible. Melodies skitter about perfectly syncing up to the infectious grooves. His word choice is what truly sells it. Lyrics here focus upon the sense of self, of trying to stop chasing the dreams of others and to find one’s own dream. Word choice additionally reflects upon a lot of other artists, rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, etc. By emphasizing one’s own distinct personality rather than trying to copy somebody else, he speaks the truth.
From the first second the song rolls into pure hyperactivity. Honestly the footwork shown on the beats feels wonderful. A compassion tone helps to tie it altogether. Plenty of the work has an energy to it, for the track has a greatness to it. Indeed, for its duration it holds nothing back. Vocals rest prominently right in the center of it, from which all else flows. Somehow, he manages to keep up with the madcap speed of the work, which in itself is quite remarkable. By infusing the sound with such heart and soul, it has that emotional connection to it as well as the downright delirious party atmosphere.
“Be Yourself” offers fantastic storytelling with a positivity that Wendinmi embodies in every possible way.
