Brooklyn indie-pop artist Rachel Bochner has shared I Guess A Sure Thing Couldn’t Go Down Gently. The new album follows the end of a long-term relationship and the self-discovery that emerged alongside it.

Album at a glance

  • Artist: Rachel Bochner
  • Album: I Guess A Sure Thing Couldn’t Go Down Gently
  • Focus track: “Fault Line”
  • Live dates: North American shows through October

Grief and clarity in the same story

In the supplied announcement, Bochner connects the breakup with coming to understand her queer identity. The record examines the friction between grief, guilt, joy and the beginning of acceptance.

“Fault Line” addresses the temptation to reduce a difficult relationship ending to a simple story of personal blame. The album’s wider perspective makes room for the ambiguity that such a story leaves out.
