Bureau B has released Ungebunden, a new Faust recording curated by Hans-Joachim Irmler. The September 25 release forms part of the label’s series in which surviving members of the original 1971–1974 lineup develop their own contemporary interpretation of Faust.

A studio process built on improvisation

Irmler recorded the album alone at the Faust studio in Scheer over three weeks. The label’s announcement describes a process led by impulse and improvisation, drawing on organ, synthesizers, tape manipulation and modified electronics.
