This is a powerfully atmospheric music that expresses the very complex and intricate nature of creative production. The track unfolds as something of a combination of peaceful, synth-driven ambiance, and industrial, almost other-worldly rhythms and reverb. It’s an unusual fusion of styles and ideas, but all of this is second to the fact that music on the whole, the track as an experience, expresses something very focused and effective. It takes you in as you listen, in the way that great music should, and it takes you through this journey or this story, whatever it is that your mind conjures up when listening, and the entire few minutes of music makes sense.
It’s a work of art in this respect, there is even a melody left lingering in your mind once everything has stopped, though it’s not the sort of music where melody or riff seem to stand out at first. The music acts as a wave of warmth that soothes you and in fact transports you to some other place, some other part of your mind, where your current worries and stresses take a back seat for a while. And it’s so creative, that you really want to listen more than once to try to recapture that feeling and perhaps understand it a little better. I think production wise there is a slightly vintage overtone to the mix, but it works because that industrial element, as mentioned, has a slightly vintage presentation to it.
There’s a mixture of the now and the then within the walls of the song. A meeting of nostalgia and optimism, with a slight hint of darkness or melancholy, just occasionally, for good measure. It’s powerful, you could hear it used as part of some visual work of art sometime soon.
