Found in the Inbox: Chelsea Dash Pulls Free of “Quicksand”
In this story
“I mostly write in hindsight, because I have to be able to process all of the emotions of what’s happened before I feel like I can give a clear view from start to finish in a song,” Chelsea Dash says in the Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Quicksand.”
Dangerous
“Quicksand” came out as a single on June 24, 2016, ahead of the eight-track debut album Dangerous. Producer Tomas Costanza worked on “Quicksand,” “Massive Attack,” “Dangerous” and “Fall Over Me,” Smitty Soul on “Fugitive” and “Glow In the Dark,” and Goodwill and MGI on “Take A Picture.” The closing track, “Sticks & Stones,” is about an older brother.
Mill Valley to New York
Originally from Mill Valley, California, and now based in New York City, Chelsea Dash studied at Berklee College of Music. “Madonna is a very big reason why I’m a musician,” the campaign quotes. “I want young women to know that it’s totally fine to stick to your guns.”
Why it was in the inbox
“It’s okay to be a strong woman and to project that, and know who you are and not settle for anything,” Chelsea Dash says. “Quicksand” is that idea set to a hook.
