Found in the Inbox: Black Dada Returns From Behind the Scenes on “F’EM”
In this story
Plenty of listeners first heard Black Dada on “Imma Zoe,” the hit that grew a remix with Brian “Baby” Williams and Rick Ross. What came next is the part the Rive Video Promotion campaign for “F’EM” wanted programmers to know.
Years behind the scenes
According to the release, Black Dada ended a deal with Universal Republic and stepped out of the spotlight by choice. The time was not quiet: the campaign says Dada wrote songs for Gloria Estefan and collaborated with Dr. Dre, Scott Storch and many other artists in the US and abroad.
Back by demand
Requests for features and shows brought Dada back in front of audiences. Collaborations with Barachi on “So Many Girls” and producer Gold Rush on “Ride or Die” led to new solo music, and the industry ride of the previous years became the subject of “F’EM.” The campaign’s pitch is simple: everyone can relate to the lyrics, and the hook is built to be shouted back.
Why it was in the inbox
Returns from the writers’ room are rarely this direct. “F’EM” turns years of deals, departures and other people’s hits into one blunt chorus.
