Door Jam Records

Independent, alternative, and community-driven. It sounds like a label built by artists, for artists—the kind of place where music gets made regardless of whether the door is open or jammed shut.

Chicago

01 / Company story

Door Jam Records didn’t start in a sleek corporate office; it started in a cramped, damp basement apartment in Chicago during a torrential summer storm. In August 2021, co-founders were hosting an underground basement showcase for a revolving cast of broke indie bands. Halfway through the headlining set, a massive flash flood hit the city, causing the building’s drainage to back up and warping the front wooden door so tightly in its frame that it literally jammed shut. With fifty sweaty music fans trapped inside, no cell service, and water creeping across the concrete floor, nobody panicked—they just turned up the amplifiers, opened a case of warm sodas, and turned an emergency into an unforgettable four-hour guerrilla listening party.

Demo submission policy

At Door Jam Records, we don't care about follower counts, algorithmic hype, or pristine studio polish. We care about raw energy, honesty, and whether your music makes us want to turn the volume up. Because we are a small, independent team, we have a few guidelines to keep the process fun and manageable for everyone.

1. What We Are Looking For
Genres: Indie rock, post-punk, neo-soul, garage pop, lo-fi hip-hop, shoegaze, and alternative folk.

Vibe: Music with character. We love rough mixes, bleeding room mics, and distinct vocal identities over hyper-processed perfection.

Format: Unlisted streaming links only (SoundCloud, Bandcamp, or private YouTube/Drive links). No massive MP3 email attachments, please!
