The instrumental elements making up this release create a powerful structure that moves effectively from the spacious and organic, almost acoustic opening few moments, to the much more dramatic and powerful later sections that bring in a touch of both the orchestral and the heavier rock worlds. For what begins as a fairly gentle and intimate piece of music and expression, this soon evolves into something much more striking. The weight of it all is immense, and really when you break those instrumental moments down the performances are flawless and quite perfect for the underlying passion and sentiment of the writing.
The leading vocalist has an almighty voice, influenced stylistically by some of the most iconic and classic rock voices from back in the day, but undoubtedly also soaked in a tone and character that is new and a pleasure to listen to. The singer presents the lyrics in a hugely emotional and passionate manner. This drives the thrill of the music with superb accuracy, drawing you in, being that volume and screaming those moments of expression for you; the sort of musical release we often seek out when we’re feeling frustrated or down.
Lyrically the song leaves you with that hook, this is the main and perhaps only line that lingers after an initial listen. The song comes through as more of a theatrical and powerful performance piece, a work of art, than anything relying purely on words to make its point. This means you can find yourself turning the volume up high and soaking yourself in the sound before you even know the story behind it. A fairly clever way to draw people in, and once they’re here, then you get to connect with those ideas and those vocal and musical intricacies that further the individuality.
