Home by Nadia Marisa

Nadia Marisa is a singer originally from Switzerland who decided to move to London to chase her dream of a singing career. She possesses a strong versatile voice and brings to mind other female singers from this era like Emeli Sande, Katie Melua and Sia, as well as singers from past years like Kate Bush and Shania Twain, though her Swiss heritage gives her voice an exotic quality that give her a style all of her own.

This song is a very good showcase for her vocal abilities, a slow paced ballad with a musical backing that is delicately pitched between rock and pop. A chiming guitar figure melds with pulsing bass and a simple but effective drum pattern over which Nadia lays down an enchanting vocal melody that reels the listener in.

Later on, a high end lead guitar line drenched in reverb lends to the epic but understated vibe, and I enjoyed the breakdown section of just Nadia’s vocal surrounded by harmonies. Lyrically, it seems to be about the search for roots and security with the repeated line “Sometimes I forget where my home is…”. However , towards the end she sings “Home is wherever my soul and treasures lie…I don’t really worry anymore….”

Overall , this is a classy piece of sophisticated pop that manages to be both commercial and different enough from other artists in her genre to avoid being generic. Nadia’s soulful voice combines with the natural strength of the song to create high quality music that will help her make her mark on the British scene. As female singers have dominated record sales in recent years, with more songs of equal excellence, Nadia Marisa will have everything necessary for global success.

No I haven`t been touring yet!

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

The inspiration comes unconciously from some place deep in my soul when I sit on the piano and just play a random chord progression, thats when words and melodies come out of the blue and I record myself and eventually try and put the pieces together that made sense, that I felt the most and that follow a certain pattern such as verse, chorus, bridge for example.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Yes my website is www.nadiamarisa.com. Other platforms:

This is the hardest part but with lots of support from my husband and by organising my schedule as well as I can, it works most of the time pretty good!
