The Christian singer-songwriter’s new single draws on his late mother’s handwritten prayers from the summer of 2009.

Eddy Mann’s new single, “Thank You Lord,” begins with a family document. The award-winning Christian singer-songwriter built the song from his late mother’s handwritten journals from the summer of 2009, turning her prayers and reflections into a contemplative worship song. It is released on November 6.

From a journal to a song

The release materials say the song draws on Psalm 118:24, the verse that begins “This is the day the Lord has made,” and frames it as a reminder to notice grace and mercy in ordinary days. Starting from a parent’s private writing gives the song a specific source: these are words that were first written for no audience at all.

That makes “Thank You Lord” both a worship song and a tribute, with the line between the two left deliberately open.

The first step toward a new album

The single is the first from Mann’s forthcoming album, Dreaming with God, which the campaign expects in September 2027. It follows a career that, according to MTS, includes several No. 1 hits on the UK iTunes Christian chart, chart-topping Cashbox Christian and Americana singles, Top 10 Christian radio airplay, and honors from the IMEA, the Kindred Awards and Akademia.

EV has previously shared Mann’s videos for “When I Was Saved” and “We Are”; both are linked from his artist profile.
