The Canadian pianist and composer follows “Glimpses” with an instrumental tribute to her eldest son.
Canadian pianist and composer Bonnie Milne wrote her new instrumental single, “Coco in Motion,” as a tribute to her eldest son. The piece, released through MTS Records, is built around the energy and unpredictability of a life that rarely stands still.
Three voices
Milne plays piano and keyboards, joined by Kevin Fox on cello and Adam Zimmerman on a custom-made soprano guitar. Fox also appeared on her previous release, “Glimpses,” which EV reviewed in September for the way it turned memory into motion.
The new piece pushes that idea further: where “Glimpses” held onto moments, “Coco in Motion” follows a person who keeps moving.
Recorded in Ontario
The single was recorded with Ross Love in Orillia, Ontario, and mixed by Adam Fair at Villa Sound in Collingwood.
Milne’s work has reached a wide audience for instrumental music. The campaign cites more than 200,000 Spotify streams, a No. 1 UK iTunes single, Top 20 radio success and an ISSA nomination.
