Half Syrian and half Lebanese, Canadian born, ESMA blurs the lines of genres and borders; her sound is infectious and has an international feel. Her music is a combination of genres with a touch of Middle Eastern sounds that make up who ESMA is as a singer, songwriter, rapper and dancer. ESMA’s sound is not offered by any other artist in music today, making listeners take notice.

“After watching a Michael Jackson video on television, at the early age of 4 years old ESMA instantly knew her calling. There has been many obstacles and sacrifices ESMA has had to overcome in order to pursue her passion, but her determination and perseverance never falters. “Being raised by parents that both escaped war to come to this country, my goals seem a little more manageable”. ESMA is ambitious, feisty, strong and independent with a positive outlook defying anyone or anything that stands in the way of her career goals.
In a short period of time and after moving across the country, calling Toronto home, ESMA’s online presence has been organically growing with her new found talent for writing and performing original rap. “I have always only ever sung, I looked up to artists that could do both, not thinking I was one of them, but I knew something was missing so I tried writing and performing rap and realized, damn I am really good at this…haha and it is so organic”. ESMA writes original rap verses to hit songs and fans are responding, in a short period of time her YouTube views have hit over 70K.

ESMA has worked with LA based marketing company A&R Worldwide who have helped advance the careers of many successful artists (LMFAO, Coldplay, Dido, Avril Lavigne,Â Adele, etc). ESMA has performed internationally, at major festivals such as CMW, and opened for artists such as Jadakiss, Karl Wolf, Jay Sean, Dru Hill, SisQo, LMFAO party rock crew, Danny Fernandes, JRDN, Kos and Dirty Radio. ESMA trains with celebrity vocal coach Elaine Overholt (John Travolta) and has also trained with Ron Anderson (Alicia Keys, Adele, Janet Jackson, Usher). ESMA has had her music placed on American reality shows with millions of viewers after landing a sync deal with Emmy Award winning company Bunim/Murray, who produces such shows as Keeping Up With The Kardashians. ESMA has won Top 40 radio station HOT 107’s Hot Factor competition, receiving 10K and radio promotion, while ESMA’s video for the single Fall Back received buzz nationally for its strong Anti-bullying message,Â and teamed up with The Amanda Todd legacy Fund.
ESMA has collaborated with producers such as Fingazz (Snoop Dogg, Karl Wolf), Marcus Kane (So So Def) & Juno award winner Rich Kidd (Drake, Busta Rhymes, SonReal). Rich Kidd is featured on ESMA’s single Soul Trigga, which was added to rotation on hit Toronto station G98.7 FM.

ESMA has now teamed up with Toronto based Producer/DJ, KAGE, becoming a pretty powerful female duo. ESMA and KAGE have created their upcoming debut project called ESMA UNKAGED. “Put quite simply we are the female Macklemore and Ryan Lewis… but seriously the music is authentic and raw and we don’t believe in limits or boundaries when it comes to specific genres and sounds, good music is just good music.
