Found in the Inbox: Epoch Failure Light Up “Let the Fire Glow”
In this story
Epoch Failure is singer and producer Billy Joe Marrero and rapper Nick Young, a New Jersey urban pop duo whose debut EP was mixed and co-produced by Grammy-nominated producer Billy Hume, whose credits include Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins and Pitbull. “Let the Fire Glow” was the duo’s third single, and Rive Video Promotion’s campaign showed how fast the first two traveled.
From a sync to the Super Bowl
The first single, “Champion,” became a breakout sync in sports. The campaign says it played during the post-game celebration at Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco and was used by the NFL Network, ESPN, Fox Sports, NASCAR, WWE, NBC Sports, the New York Knicks, the New York Giants, the Denver Broncos and the Australian Football League, among others.
A cover with a blessing
The follow-up reworked Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.” It reached the Top 10 of Spotify’s Viral 50 USA chart and ran on ESPN’s NFL Sunday Countdown through the playoffs. Bon Jovi shared it, and Jon Bon Jovi and co-writer Desmond Child said in a joint statement that the version “retells the intimate story of Tommy and Gina, set in an urgent urban landscape,” adding: “Epoch Failure is a winner!”
Why it was in the inbox
“Let the Fire Glow” keeps the formula: an anthemic pop song with urban swagger, written, the campaign says, for “daredevils and dreamers who refuse to cave under the pressures of social conformity.”
