Found in the Inbox: Danny Worsnop Goes Outlaw Country on “Mexico”

In this story

Danny Worsnop made a name as frontman of metalcore pioneers Asking Alexandria, then led the hard rock supergroup We Are Harlot and sang on songs by I See Stars, With One Last Breath, Breathe Carolina and Memphis May Fire. The Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Mexico” presented something different: a solo debut, The Long Road Home, in blues rock and outlaw country.

A personal record

Recently reunited with Asking Alexandria, Danny still pursued the solo work. The campaign says longtime fans would hear a more personal, reflective side, with brutally honest lyrics about loss, heartache and Danny’s past, often public, struggles with drugs and alcohol, set to “authentic, blues-soaked outlaw country,” with a few upbeat tracks in the mix.

Sunshine and cold beer

“Mexico” is one of those upbeat moments. The video, filmed with director Blake Judd, shows an escape from the toils of life with sunshine, classic cars and ice-cold beer. “The song was so much fun to write, record, and film,” Danny said. “However much it is in ways about being exhausted and done with one’s reality, it is at its core a fun, upbeat song about letting loose. Something we all need to do every once in a while.”

Why it was in the inbox

Metal singers rarely sound this relaxed. “Mexico” is a vacation that earned its place on the record.
