New on EV: Toriella, ‘WHAT’S UNDERSTOOD AIN’T GOTTA BE EXPLAINED’

Meet Toriella, an independent R&B artist and songwriter from St. Louis, now based in New York. Her album WHAT’S UNDERSTOOD AIN’T GOTTA BE EXPLAINED came out on September 8, 2026, through her own TORIELLA MUSIC GROUP.

Toriella describes her sound as grown-woman, 90s-rooted quiet storm R&B with a modern digital edge, made for right now rather than as a throwback. She writes her own songs, and she openly notes that the vocals on the title track are hybrid-AI assisted.

That title track is the place to start. It has already been spun by DJ Epps on New Music Radio, on October 11, 2026, as Toriella builds the record steadily and independently.
