‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, Russ, Tito Double P & Dana Biondi Honored at Indie Power Players Party: Best Photos
Lights, camera, music execs! The power players of the indie music scene in New York City set the stage on fire at Billboard’s Indie Power Players event at Harbor NYC Rooftop. The event, presented by Downtown, A2IM, Believe, and Tunecore, brought together the biggest names in the industry for a night of celebration and recognition.
Representatives from heavyweight companies like The Orchard, Virgin Music, BMG, EMPIRE, and more rubbed shoulders at the star-studded event. It was a who’s who of the indie music world, with faces from Believe, Tunecore, A2IM, and beyond mingling and making waves.
Billboard’s Editor-in-Chief, Hannah Karp, kicked things off with some fiery opening remarks. The night was full of tributes and honors, starting with Russ, who snagged the 2025 Billboard Indie Trailblazer Award. Russ shared his journey through the indie scene, reminiscing about his humble beginnings with Tunecore in 2011. “As independents, we as artists no longer have to be chosen — we choose ourselves,” he declared.
Next up, Dana Biondi of G59 Records took home the Executive of the Year award for his groundbreaking work outside the mainstream. And let’s not forget about Peso Pluma, who honored his cousin Tito Double P with the Billboard Indie Power Player of the Year Award in a bilingual speech that hit all the right notes.
But the spotlight truly shone on cover star “Weird Al” Yankovic, who received the Billboard Indie Spirit Award for his legendary career in music and comedy. With a touch of his signature humor, Al accepted the award with grace and wit. “Apparently, when you start your recording career by playing your accordion next to a urinal in a public men’s room, you get an indie cred card for life,” he quipped.
The night was a whirlwind of talent, laughter, and unforgettable moments. It was a testament to the resilience and creativity of the independent music scene, proving that true artistry knows no boundaries.
