TUNSI: Underground Wisdom, Unfiltered Truth
In a time when most music is engineered for algorithms and 15-second scrolls, artists like TUNSI feel damn near extinct. He’s not chasing trends or playlist placements; he’s dropping what he calls “underground wisdom,” the kind of truth that wakes you up, shakes the narrative, and refuses to let you stay comfortable.
Golden-era hip-hop runs through his veins, you hear the ghosts of KRS-One, Nas, and the Wu in every bar, but the voice is 100% his own: sharp enough to slice through all the noise we drown in every day.
Every beat, every lyric, every mix; TUNSI builds it all himself. No co-signs, no compromises, no dilution. His songs aren’t just tracks; they’re manifestos. Straight-up revolutionary dispatches delivered over booming drums.
What sets him apart? Most people whisper when it gets uncomfortable. TUNSI yells it from the rooftops. He’s been counted out, slept on, shadowbanned, you name it; but he keeps coming. Not to fit in. To tear the mask off.
We sat down with TUNSI to talk about the come-up, what “underground wisdom” actually means, and what he wants burning in your head when the last bar fades out. Spoiler: his answers hit just as hard as his music; raw, real, and zero apologies.
Interview with TUNSI
Exposed Vocals: Let’s start at the beginning. How did your journey into music begin, and what inspired you to pursue it seriously?
TUNSI: I have always been a big fan of Hip Hop. Listening to clever lyrics always made me want to write songs of my own. I never really thought of taking it seriously because making music has always been fun for me and a hobby but I’m always competitive and serious with my craft.
Exposed Vocals: Your music blends multiple styles with powerful lyrics. How would you describe your sound to someone hearing it for the first time?
TUNSI: I would describe my sound as something different and an opportunity to think outside the generic box of mainstream music with clever lyrics and needed topics.
Exposed Vocals: You produce and write all of your music. What does your creative process look like from start to finish?
TUNSI: Most of the time I would create the music then write the lyrics. Sometimes I will develop the song around a topic I would like to write about, then produce the track, it all depends.
Exposed Vocals: You mention that your music has changed lives. Can you share a moment or message from a listener that really stuck with you?
TUNSI: There are times when listeners can re-site my own lyrics better than I can remember them. Sometimes they would emphasize on specific lyrics, wondering what drove me to arrange them as such. People are generally thankful that an artist is willing to say what matters and not travel with the flock; this will stick with me forever.
Exposed Vocals: What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your music career, and how have you overcome them?
TUNSI: My biggest challenge is being heard. I have yet to overcome this challenge but it’s understandable given the subject matter my music contains.
Exposed Vocals: You call your style “underground wisdom.” Can you unpack that for us — what does it mean to you?
TUNSI: Underground because it’s not the norm and hard to find. Wisdom because it speaks the truth.
Exposed Vocals: What artists (past or present) have influenced your music or philosophy as an artist?
TUNSI: I’ve enjoyed artists like KRS, Nas, Public Enemy, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang, Ice Cube, Kool G Rap and others.
Exposed Vocals: What’s something your fans might be surprised to learn about you?
TUNSI: Fans should be surprised to know that I rarely listen to music.
Exposed Vocals: Tell us about any upcoming projects, releases, or collaborations you’re excited about.
TUNSI: I am always working on new material and always excited to bring music to the people.
Exposed Vocals: Lastly, what message do you hope people take away after listening to your music?
TUNSI: Take away originality and stop settling for the cookie cut so called music you are forced to enjoy. Develop your desire to absorb sounds that are beneficial to your soul.
TUNSI isn’t just another voice in hip-hop—he is a movement inside it. Rooted in raw authenticity and driven by a mission that actually means something, his music does what the game keeps forgetting: it reflects reality, confronts the lies, and heals the parts we pretend aren’t broken.
If you’re sick of factory beats and throwaway bars, TUNSI is the antidote—unfiltered truth, relentless creativity, and that deep underground wisdom the mainstream buried long ago.
