Tom Morello Slams Trump for Springsteen Feud: ‘F— That Guy!’
Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello is not holding back when it comes to former President Donald Trump’s recent shots at Bruce Springsteen. In a fiery response during an appearance on a SiriusXM political roundtable, Morello lashed out at Trump’s continued digs toward Springsteen, calling the attacks “petty, embarrassing, and desperate.” Then he cut right to the chase: “F— that guy.”
The outburst comes days after Trump made headlines for mocking Springsteen during a campaign rally, questioning his patriotism and belittling his support for working-class Americans. “Bruce Springsteen’s no friend to the American worker. He’s a fraud,” Trump said on stage in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The crowd booed as Trump mimicked Springsteen’s voice and dismissed his catalog as “songs about nothing.”
Morello, a longtime friend and collaborator of Springsteen’s who has performed with him on multiple tours, didn’t mince words in his response. “Bruce has done more for working-class America with a single verse than Trump’s done in his entire privileged, corrupt life,” he said. “Bruce writes for the steelworker, the janitor, the farmhand. Trump can’t even spell solidarity.”
The guitarist also added that this kind of culture-baiting is exactly what Trump leans on when he’s losing support. “It’s always the same playbook: pick a fight with someone who actually has integrity and hope people are too distracted to see how hollow you are,” Morello said. “But coming after Bruce? You lost the minute you opened your mouth.”
Morello has long used his platform to speak out on political issues, from anti-war activism to labor rights. His critique of Trump is nothing new, but the directness of his “F— that guy” statement quickly went viral, circulating across fan accounts and music forums as fans rallied behind him and Springsteen alike.
The feud, such as it is, appears to be one-sided—but Springsteen has yet to respond. That hasn’t stopped fans and fellow musicians from flooding social media with support. Hashtags like #TeamSpringsteen and #MorelloSaidIt trended overnight as screenshots and quotes spread like wildfire.
Tom Morello is clearly drawing a line in the sand. And in an age of calculated celebrity neutrality, he’s making it crystal clear: some things aren’t political—they’re personal.
