“Someday” Tops UK iTunes Chart – Novai Reflects on Heartbreak, Hope, and Her Soaring Rise
With a voice that blends timeless soul with modern sensitivity, Novai has officially made her mark. Her latest single, “Someday,” has not only resonated with fans around the world—it’s rocketed to the #1 spot on the UK iTunes Adult Contemporary Chart, topping legends like Bonnie Tyler, Richard Marx, and Kylie Minogue.
Released via MTS Records, the emotional ballad is a cinematic, soul-stirring anthem about love, loss, and the quiet power of letting go. And as the world takes notice, Novai is just getting started.
We sat down with the rising R&B/pop star to talk about the inspiration behind “Someday,” her musical roots, and what we can expect from her highly anticipated debut album in 2026.
Exposed Vocals: First of all, huge congratulations on “Someday” hitting #1 on the UK iTunes Adult Contemporary Chart! How did it feel seeing your name above legends like Bonnie Tyler and Kylie Minogue?
Novai: Thank you so much! Honestly, it didn’t feel real at first. Seeing my name next to — let alone above — artists I grew up admiring was surreal. Bonnie Tyler and Kylie Minogue are icons of emotional storytelling in pop music, and to even share space with them on that chart was an honor. I think I just sat in silence for a minute, feeling grateful and a little overwhelmed. It reminded me that music still connects hearts, no matter how the industry changes.
EV: “Someday” is such a powerful and emotional ballad. Can you walk us through the inspiration behind the lyrics?
Novai: Michael Stover wrote “Someday” from such an honest place — it’s about letting someone go, not because you’ve stopped loving them, but because love sometimes means giving freedom instead of holding on. That message hit me deeply. When I recorded it, I thought about the times in my life when I had to release something I wanted to keep — whether it was a person, a dream, or even a version of myself. The song is really about faith in timing and the quiet hope that love will circle back when the heart is ready.
EV: Your vocals on this track are stunning — who are some of the vocalists that inspired your style and tone?
Novai: Thank you! I’ve always gravitated toward singers who make you feel something — Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Toni Braxton for their power and phrasing, and Tori Kelly and Adele for their intimacy and emotional control. I try to balance the classic strength of the greats with a modern, vulnerable softness. Every note should serve the emotion, not just the melody.
EV: You’ve mentioned “Someday” is about letting go with love and trusting the universe. Do you often explore themes of faith and healing in your music?
Novai: Absolutely. For me, music and spirituality are intertwined. Writing or performing a song is a kind of prayer — it’s how I make sense of things I can’t control. Whether it’s heartbreak, self-discovery, or forgiveness, I want my songs to help people heal. “Someday” is a love song, yes, but it’s also about surrendering to divine timing.
EV: How did the collaboration with MTS Records come about, and what has the partnership meant for your development as an artist?
Novai: I connected with MTS Records through mutual industry friends who knew I was looking for a label that valued authenticity over flash. Michael Stover believed in “Someday” from day one — not just as a single, but as part of a bigger story. MTS gives its artists freedom to grow, to experiment, and to be heard globally. It’s been empowering to work with a team that sees my potential and pushes me to reach it.
EV: With your full-length debut album on the way in 2026, what can fans expect from the project — musically and emotionally?
Novai: The album will expand on the emotional DNA of “Someday.” It’s about growth — learning to love, lose, and begin again. Musically, it blends the soul of classic pop with R&B and cinematic textures. There will be heartbreak, healing, and moments of pure light. It’s my most honest reflection of who I am right now.
EV: You’ve managed to blend classic power ballad energy with a modern pop/R&B twist. How do you strike that balance in your production and writing?
Novai: I’m obsessed with dynamics — how a song breathes. I love the big emotional build of a power ballad, but I want it to feel personal, not theatrical. So we kept the arrangement organic, layering modern production subtly — live instruments, ambient reverb, warm synth pads. The goal is timeless emotion in a contemporary soundscape.
EV: What has the fan reaction been like so far — any messages or moments that have really stayed with you since the release?
Novai: The messages have been beautiful. One listener wrote that “Someday” helped them forgive someone they thought they’d never speak to again. That broke me in the best way. It’s humbling to know that something I sang in a small studio could reach someone across the world and shift their heart. That’s why I do this.
EV: When you’re not in the studio, what inspires your creativity? Books, films, life experiences?
Novai: All of the above! I love poetry, films that linger in your chest, and long walks where my thoughts start to sound like melodies. I’m inspired by human resilience — by people who keep loving despite everything.
EV: Finally, what message would you like to share with listeners who may be experiencing the kind of love and loss you sing about in “Someday”?
Novai: I’d tell them this: it’s okay to let go, and it’s okay to still hope. Love doesn’t die — it transforms. Every heartbreak is a teacher, every goodbye a seed for something new. Trust that what’s meant for you will find its way back, maybe not today… but someday.
