Oliver Symons has released “Wake Up” through Los Angeles label Maison Arts, opening a new chapter for the Belgian artist, producer and songwriter. The single arrives today, October 2, as his solo project continues to connect his Antwerp roots with the writing and production world he has built around Los Angeles.
In the announcement supplied by Gold Atlas, Symons describes the song as a reflection on love, youth and freedom. He connects its outlook to The Dreamers and One Battle After Another, and to the intensity of a young adulthood shaped by idealism and a summer that cannot be repeated.
A solo identity beyond Bazart
Symons first became known as a member and principal producer of Bazart. His solo work puts his own songwriting and vocal delivery at the center of a more electronic, producer-led project. That distinction gives the new release its context: this is a songwriter developing a separate artistic identity while drawing on the experience of a successful band.
The press announcement places “Wake Up” after “Looper” and “What Is Happening?” and describes the new song as a more outward-looking moment. The new release extends the contrast Symons is drawing between private uncertainty and a more open expression of connection.
Between Antwerp and Los Angeles
His recent work has involved collaborators including Alessandro Buccellati, Gianluca Buccellati and Nathan Boddy. The announcement also points to his early-2025 debut EP, appearances at The Great Escape and a European tour supporting Warhaus as parts of the solo project’s development.
Maison Arts now provides the label home for this next phase. Gold Atlas says further releases are planned across 2026 and 2027, making “Wake Up” an introduction to a continuing body of work rather than an isolated announcement.
