Found in the Inbox: Chance the Rapper, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne Have “No Problem
In this story
In June 2016 the Rive Video Promotion campaign for “No Problem” delivered a short message: Coloring Book was “available now everywhere,” and Chance the Rapper had 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne on the single.
What the Huffington Post saw
To introduce the Chicago artist, the campaign shared a Huffington Post profile. It listed what Chance had already done without a major label: the first free project ever on iTunes, festival headlining slots, a recording with Madonna and two appearances on Saturday Night Live. “He has the opportunity to alter the DNA of hip-hop,” the Huffington Post wrote.
Back home
The same profile pointed to the work in Chicago: clothing people experiencing homelessness and hosting poetry slams for young writers.
Why it was in the inbox
An independent artist with two of rap’s biggest guests, telling the labels there would be no problem doing it alone.
