King Snake Roost was an Australian noise punk/grunge band that was formed in Adelaide in 1985 by Charles Tolnay. The band broke up in 1990 after releasing a few singles and only 3 studio albums. They were well known in the 80s Australian punk/post-punk scene, with a crushingly dirty sound similar to that of Lubricated Goat, feedtime, and Bloodloss (a group Charles Tolnay also founded). King Snake Roost played shows in Australia and the US with some of the most influential noise rock bands of the 80s including Sonic Youth, Big Black, Mudhoney, Helmet, Babes in Toyland, and The Mark of Cain. Although they remained a pretty underground band, their influence on punk and noise rock can still be heard today.
