In this story

“Kansas City-based rockers The Strive have a melodic hard rock styling that’s as mystifying as it is catchy,” PureVolume wrote, and the Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Kingdom” led with that line. The video arrived ahead of the band’s hometown record release show, and, as PureVolume noted, shows a band that is not afraid to let loose.

Living up to the name

The campaign says The Strive made real inroads on the national independent scene, playing bills with Fall Out Boy, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Neon Trees and Yellowcard, appearing on Warped Tour and touring the US college market for years. The numbers: more than 15,000 YouTube subscribers, 4 million views and 35,000 Twitter followers.

Modern Pace

Alternative Press premiered the single “Keep Dreaming,” and Vents Magazine and Music Junkie Press covered the band. “Kingdom” comes from the album Modern Pace, released October 7, 2016, followed by a fall 2016 tour with Metro Station and Palaye Royale.

Why it was in the inbox

“Kingdom” is arena-sized rock from a band that earned its fans the slow way, one campus and one bill at a time.
