Kacey Musgraves Reschedules Upcoming Show After Breaking Her Rib: ‘I’m In a Lot of Pain’
Kacey Musgraves, the country music sensation with a heart as big as Texas, recently found herself in a bit of a rough patch – both literally and figuratively. While soaking up the sun in vibrant Mexico, the Grammy-winning songstress took a tumble that left her with a broken rib. Ouch! In an Instagram Stories post, she shared an x-ray image showing the damage, along with a candid account of the accident.
In true Musgraves fashion, she didn’t sugarcoat the ordeal, explaining, “Sooo I’m in Mexico with a f—in’ broken rib. Wednesday night it was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see. Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very very hard on my back left ribcage and I broke rib number 6.” Talk about a rough vacation memory!
Despite the pain and discomfort, our girl Kacey is staying strong and keeping her spirits high. She acknowledged the seriousness of her injury, admitting, “This s— is no joke. I’m in a lot of pain and doing anything is extremely difficult but I’m managing and being well taken care of.” Sounds like she’s facing this setback head-on, with her signature grace and humor intact.
Unfortunately, the injury forced Musgraves to make a tough decision – to reschedule her highly-anticipated performance at the Sing For Science event, originally slated for June 22 at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium. With a heavy heart, she shared, “There is no physical way I can get on a plane and fly back to Nashville … I am extremely bummed to have to reschedule as I have been looking forward to this for months but there is literally no other option. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience.” We feel for you, Kacey, but your fans understand that health comes first.
But fear not, music lovers! The show must go on, albeit a little later than planned. The Sing For Science event will now take place on Sept. 18 at the Ryman, promising an unforgettable evening of music and science exploration. Alongside Musgraves’ rescheduled performance, attendees can look forward to insights from fungi expert Paul Stamets. And hey, here’s a silver lining – tickets purchased for the original June 22 show will be honored for the new date, so hold on to those precious stubs!
As for Musgraves’ jam-packed schedule, she’s not letting a broken rib slow her down. With a July 5 gig lined up at the Zootown Festival in Montana and an August 2 appearance at the Hinterland Music Festival in Iowa, it’s clear that this resilient artist is ready to hit the stage and captivate audiences with her magnetic presence and soul-stirring tunes.
In a world where setbacks can happen when you least expect them, Kacey Musgraves is a shining example of resilience and positivity. Despite the unexpected detour in her plans, she’s facing adversity with grace and honesty, reminding us all that even the toughest challenges can’t dim the light of a true artist. Here’s to a speedy recovery, Kacey, and to many more memorable performances ahead. Your fans are rooting for you every step of the way.
