iLLiCiT – Rise Up [Rare Rapcore / Melodic Nu Metal from New Zealand]
Illicit (stylized as iLLiCiT) was a band from New Zealand active in the mid 2000’s. This song was featured on their 2006 album “Read Between the Lines”, but sadly this is the only song of that album i have. They also had two EPs, one before (self-titled) and one after (Chapter 1, although i’m not 100% sure if that’s it’s actual name) their already mentioned album. If anyone knows anything or has more stuff from this band, feel free to comment down below in the comment section. I don’t own this song or the two pictures and have uploaded this here because it was unavailable for streaming and purchase literally everywhere. Here’s the official bio of the band :
Hard hitting live shows, catchy rhythmical riffs, breakdowns, melodies and a passion that goes beyond any sense of normality for what they do – Illicit is a promising young act quickly bleeding their way into the limelight.
Based in East Auckland the band consists now of five people who each bring their own uniqueness and individuality to the sound of the band. Rory, Brenton, Kieran, Kasey and Chris have been together for a good four years now developing the sound, stage show and business of the Illicit name.
Playing shows in and out of Auckland and doing charity concerts for organizations such as the Red Cross, NZ Kids First and World Vision, has provided the band with a solid fan base and a strong passion to continue doing what they love and using music to help others.
With an average age of nineteen these boys take crowds by surprise every chance they get. The band competed in the Primal national battle of the bands NZ Final 2006’ and came away with second place. Illicit also played in the world battle of the bands as regional finalists and somewhere in between their practice and shows have managed to release 2 e.p’s (self titled) and (Read Between the Lines). Future plans see the band playing at Parachute for the third year, releasing their single and video in 2007 sometime and continuing the growth and development of the band.
Illicit is slowly becoming a well-known band throughout Auckland with more and more people coming around to the sound that is growing more diverse every day.
