Found in the Inbox: Liverpool’s RISE Writes Dreams Without a Roadmap
In this story
People make plans, but ambition rarely comes with instructions. That is the premise Liverpool band RISE gave for Dreams in the promotional notes that reached our inbox. Released on May 8, 2025, the single approaches hopes and aspirations through the question of how anyone finds a route toward them when there is no map to follow.
Revisited in October 2026, Dreams belongs to the band’s existing catalogue. Its original campaign described an upbeat song and named Whitewood Studios in Liverpool as the recording location, with Rob Whiteley producing. Those are useful starting points for a discovery feature: a local studio setting, a clearly stated subject and a four-piece group developing an arrangement around it.
RISE consists of Sam Kinley, also known as stayMellow, on bass and vocals; Paul Kinley on keyboards and backing vocals; Alex Mahoney on drums; and Brian Petch on guitar. The supplied biography places melodic vocal hooks at the centre of the band’s approach, alongside a combination of keyboards and guitars. Its genre description connects melodic rock with occasional progressive rock influences.
That configuration gives the project several ways to shape a song. Bass and drums establish the foundation, while guitar and keyboards can share the arrangement rather than requiring one instrument to define the entire identity. The campaign’s description of Dreams emphasises that balance as part of a recognisable band approach. Those claims belong to the promotional account; listeners can make their own assessment through the recording.
The subject is broad enough to belong to many people, but its unanswered question is what gives it focus. Wanting something and knowing how to reach it are separate experiences. In the band’s explanation, Dreams acknowledges the gap between them. It is an invitation to think about the uncertain work of moving toward an aspiration, rather than assuming a plan already guarantees the destination.
The original mailout also mentioned further studio work scheduled for July 2025. That schedule is historical context and does not establish what the band has released since. What remains available here is a snapshot of RISE at the time of Dreams: four Liverpool musicians, a recording made with Rob Whiteley, and a song built around the practical uncertainty inside an optimistic idea. Follow the band’s supplied Spotify artist link to explore Dreams and the wider catalogue, with the release date and original context kept in view.
