Found in the Inbox: ARITA Brings Tobago to the World With “Good Man”

ARITA music video

In this story

“My music must move my audiences, their hearts first, but also mind, body and soul and take them to a better place, leaving them yearning for more,” ARITA says in the Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Good Man,” the debut single.

From Plymouth, Tobago

Born Arita Rachel Edmund in Plymouth, Tobago, ARITA plays drums, keyboard, guitar and bass. Music runs in the family: the campaign names calypso icon Cro Cro as an uncle and Lady Ibis as a grandmother. ARITA won the 2005 Junior Calypso NJAC and TUCO competitions.

The video

“Good Man” was shot in Trinidad and Tobago and produced and directed by Russell Santos and Ron Elliot. The release came through TEMPO Records and FAMjr Music Group, with management from TEMPO Networks founder Frederick A. Morton, Jr., and the campaign set a showcase at TEMPO’s Caribbean Rocks NYC during Caribbean Week in June 2016.

Why it was in the inbox

“My desire and dream is to one day represent my beautiful country of Trinidad & Tobago and the wider Caribbean worldwide,” ARITA says. “Good Man” was the first step.
