Former Evanescence Guitarist, Jen Majura, Announces Decision to ‘Step Away’ From Music Industry
Jen Majura, the badass guitarist known for shredding it up with bands like Equilibrium, Knorkator, and Evanescence, just dropped a bomb on the music industry – she’s hitting pause on her rockstar life. In a heartfelt post on her Insta, she spilled the tea on why she’s tapping out, citing the state of the music biz, tech advances, and the shift in society as her reasons for throwing in the towel.
“I’ve had enough of waiting around for that spark to reignite my passion and just existing in this chaos,” she wrote. “I’ve had my fill of epic gigs, insane tours, and unforgettable moments, but it’s time for me to dip out. Who knows, maybe I’ll cook up something new down the line, but for now, I’m all about the good vibes and steering clear of the drama in the industry today. The scene just ain’t vibing with me anymore, man.”
As Majura bids adieu, she’s spreading love to all the fellow music makers out there, dropping four fiery tracks as a parting gift to her loyal fans. These bangers, born from a collab with guitar whiz Dennis Hormes back in the day, are like hidden gems she unearthed while KonMari-ing her computer files.
A musical prodigy since way back, Majura carved out a name for herself in the game from 2000 onwards, jamming on the strings with various bands and dishing out solo albums along the way. Her star truly rose when she snagged the lead guitar spot in Evanescence in 2015, where she laid down killer licks on their recent albums like “Synthesis” and “The Bitter Truth.”
But all good things must come to an end, right? Majura bid farewell to Evanescence in May 2022, with the band showing love for her in a heartfelt post, saying their goodbyes and rooting for her future moves. Post-Evanescence, she went on to co-found the metal mashup crew How We End and lent her fierce vocals to a track on ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini’s drop, “Invisible Signs.”
Jen Majura might be bowing out for now, but who knows what the future holds for this rock goddess. One thing’s for sure – her legacy in the music scene ain’t fading anytime soon. Stay tuned, music fam. The show ain’t over ’til Jen says it’s over.
