FIVES started in Baltimore in 2008 with lead vocalist Marc Cashin and keyboardist Matthew White. Several lineup changes later, the band came together in 2015 with Nate Lanzino, Billy Totti and Jake Tate, and the Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Heart and Thunder” describes the result as a mix of acoustic-based rock and indie pop.
Recorded mostly live
The band’s first independent EP, A Brief History, came out in June 2010. According to the campaign, it was recorded mostly live at Grammy-winning Bias Studios in Springfield, Virginia, and its release was a turning point: more shows, and the realization that audiences connected with the group.
Standing room only
In spring 2015 FIVES played a standing-room-only showcase in Austin during SXSW, and the band has opened for national touring acts including O-Town and The Vespers.
