Found in the Inbox: ESH Finds the Light in “Fall
In this story
Sarai Givaty has been on the small screen in NCIS and the big screen in The Expendables 3. The Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Fall” introduced the Israeli model and actress’s other path: music, released under the name ESH, with a debut EP out on July 29, 2016 after the single “Trigger.”
Needing the fall
“We all fall at some point,” ESH told The Huffington Post, in comments the campaign shared. “Luckily, most times we have people around who love us to try and pick us up, make us feel better. That being said, I feel sometimes ‘falling’ is needed. That dark place can serve as one of the most interesting sources for creativity [to] take shape. This song is about needing that fall to be fully who we are.”
Light melody, dark lyrics
ESH directed the video with longtime friend Niv Shank. “Since there is a contrast between the light, uplifting melody and darker lyrics, I wanted to create a video that captured both sides,” ESH explained. The setting is a meeting at a relapse center, where the character, instead of being down about the “falls,” slips into an uplifting fantasy of full self-acceptance. “In her mind, this frees everyone around her.”
Why it was in the inbox
Plenty of actors make records. Few write one this clear about why the low points matter.
