Fans Choose j-hope & GloRilla’s ‘Killin It Girl’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music
J-Hope and GloRilla’s sultry banger, “Killin It Girl,” has snagged the top spot in this week’s new music poll, stealing hearts and playlists alike. It comes as no surprise that this collaboration between the talented BTS member and the charismatic Memphis MC has struck a harmonious chord with music fans, earning the title of favorite new release of the past week in a poll conducted by the music gurus over at Billboard.
“Killin It Girl” waltzed its way to victory with an impressive 87% of the vote, leaving fellow artists like Lil Tecca with his album “Dopamine,” Mark Ronson and RAYE’s track “Suzanne,” Zara Larsson’s “Midnight Sun,” Brandon Lake’s “King of Hearts,” and Gunna’s “Won’t Stop” trailing behind in its wake. The song’s mesmerizing hip-hop flow captures the magnetic allure of love at first sight, with GloRilla embodying the role of the irresistible heartbreaker as he proudly boasts, “He said I be killin’ it, I said I do this everyday” on the seductive track.
This latest release adds yet another feather to the already-prestigious cap of the K-pop superstar, who has been on a roll this year with hits like “Sweet Dreams” featuring Miguel and “Mona Lisa.” Reflecting on his recent musical endeavors, j-hope shared in an interview with Billboard, “’Sweet Dreams’ featuring Miguel — an artist I’ve long respected — has a smooth, soulful vibe that feels deeply personal. On the other hand, ‘Mona Lisa’ brings a hip-hop-driven performance energy.”
But j-hope doesn’t plan on hitting the brakes just yet. He teased fans with a glimpse into his evolving musical universe, promising, “Both tracks are easy to connect with, yet they offer a glimpse into the broader, more evolved musical world I’m building. This is just the start — I have plenty more musical experiments in store.”
The dynamic BTS member recently wrapped up his HOPE ON THE STAGE tour, which took him across North America and culminated in a highly-anticipated performance at South Korea’s Goyang Stadium. The tour saw j-hope igniting stages and captivating audiences, including a pair of sold-out shows at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in March.
In the poll standings, the “other” category secured the second spot with 10% of the vote, while Lil Tecca’s “Dopamine” clinched third place, securing nearly 1% of the votes.
