FAIRFIELD PARLOUR – From Home To Home Mega Rare 1st 1970 UK Vertigo Swirl Issue LP £900

Another one from the UK Vertigo Swirl label, this 1970 1st Issue of `From Home To Home` (6360 001) by UK Psych outfit `Fairfield Parlour` is very rare indeed with a Near Mint copy selling in 2017 for £984. The first seven releases on the distinctive Spiral/Swirl label were numbered VO 1 – VO 7 this was the first release using the new 6360 matrix thus numbered 6360 001. It came in a beautiful textured gatefold sleeve which being prone to wear means it is very hard to find in true Mint condition. The label has the large spiral above the spindle hole with Vertigo logo at the bottom. The band were actually originally called Kaleidoscope who also had two rare 1960 UK releases Tangerine Dream & Faintly Blowing on Fontana

The saga of Fairfield Parlour, though brief, is confusing because the group was really the same as Kaleidoscope (the British band called Kaleidoscope, not to be confused with the psychedelic band called Kaleidoscope from California who was active in the same era). Around 1970, Kaleidoscope changed their name to Fairfield Parlour, though the music was pretty much the same whimsical, fairy tale-ish blend of harmony pop/rock folk with late-’60s Beatles and Pink Floyd psychedelic flavours. They issued a 1970 LP on Vertigo, From Home to Home, which continued the directions they had staked out in Kaleidoscope, with slightly heavier rock arrangements.
