Marila Voe, an up-and-coming band hailing from Texas

To explain the members of Marila Voe collectively, would be a vague definition visually, but once taken under the influence of their unique sound, you’ll quickly begin to understand a simple adjective is an understatement. This up-and-coming band hailing from Texas are just as compelling as a mirage in the physical form, but relentlessly draw you into their sound waves that is evident to expand the borders of their native state. Though alternative rockers Marila Voe take influence in respect of representing their hometown in San Antonio, TX, they aren’t looking to only succeed in captivity of local admiration. Whether it’s the vocals that echo in your mind every time you listen, duo-guitars rising for the next catchy riff, dynamic drumbeats, or the bass thumping your soul, you’ll want to pay attention to what they continue to do. The 2016 debut EP “Tres Vidas” is available now for digital stream and download.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Marila Voe: We found each other by accident, our guitarist got ahold of the wrong guitarist and the rest is history , we’ll  let you figure out which ones which

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Marila Voe:  It was a mispronunciation of the voodoo practitioner Marie Laveau

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Marila Voe: We think that its an essential way for new artist  to thrive, as far as what we think of it , we have are EP for free download at Marilavoe.bandcamp.com

 

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Marila Voe: Make friends with the local bands, rub elbows and play as many shows as you can to get your name out there.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

 

Marila Voe:  Act like it never happened and keep playing the show,  we’re not robots

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Marila Voe: No not yet but in the near future we plan to, and hope to catch as much of it on film.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Marila Voe: Our inspiration comes from what we go through in our lives and puts us in the mood of what we are feeling.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Marila Voe: Facebook and Bandcamp

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

 

Marila Voe: There was a party playlist on one of our phones and cotton eye joe and we all stared at each other

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Marila Voe: Buy all the gear we need and then tour it till it dies

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Marila Voe: Chimichangas , pre amps, and mics, also shoe laces to keep it our shit tight

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Marila Voe: We think that rubbing elbows with people in the music scene is the best way, also sharing our music through social media

 

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Marila Voe: At the Drive In at CBGB

 

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Marila Voe: We are heavily pushing for merch and a full length album and we will continue giging to keep our name fresh

 

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Marila Voe: Flipping veggie burgers for these flippin hipsters

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Marila Voe: Arturo: daft punk, Roy & Miguel Linkin Park hybrid theory goals and life met, Adrain: James Jamerson, Randy: Mana Cuando Lloran los angeles.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Marila Voe: Fixed practice schedule, not enough attention to our girlfriends, lack of sleep

 

 

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?

Marila Voe: New material, and bigger venues, and bigger crowds
