Exposed Vocals Interviews Dennis Lee
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Dennis Lee: Exposed Vocals found me on twitter and DM’d me for a direct interview
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Dennis Lee: I am from south. Gulf coast of mexico area’ Foley (aka Fo Town) Alabama to be exact. Music has always been apart of my family. My father an his older siblings grew up in a band a traveled the US so it was inherited to me to keep the flow going i feel.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Dennis Lee: In the first stages of my career i couldnt find a name that grasped my character an so i asked myself, Dennis who are you, and i said to self that i am me so i choose to stick with my government name as my stage persona
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Dennis Lee: I think online music sharing is wonderful and is very effective for the fans that cannot reach my concerts so i am giving the oppurtunity of giving them a live performance in digital format that they can enjoy on the go whenever. Yes i do give away music free. My next project dropping this fall/winter will be for free. Until that is released though the public may enjoy my newest EP “Late Nites” which can be streamed from soundcloud and hotnewhiphop
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Dennis Lee: Make sure you do more business first and always consider what moves will benefit you. There are alot of deals out there giving artist free stuff as well as deals making artist pay that cripples them hard because they arent really benefiting but i would say just make smart moves and keep your interest and the other parties interest at heart and keep it real.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Dennis Lee: Yes, no performance is 100% perfect but the point is to keep it professional an keep on entertaining. The entertainer and his/her team is the only ones in the building that knows how the performance was rehearsed so 9-10 times nobody will notice anyways unless you freak out an make it obvious.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Dennis Lee: Yes i do tour, last time i toured it was to a very small country town in florida and the event was ducked up deep in the country area and it was just not what we were expecting there was live born fires around and everything.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Dennis Lee: i gather my inspiration from life. You have to experience life to talk about life so i let myself feel. I feel love, hate, pain, an then i portray it in lyrics to paint a vivid picture to my audience.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Dennis Lee: I indeed do have a website you can find the link through my twitter description http://www.twitter.com/fotownsfinest, i usually share all my releases through my soundcloud it is a great site
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Dennis Lee: Of mine or other artists? I think the most embarrassing would probably be ariana grande because i am a rapper an she is pop but i love ALL music if it touches my heart.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Dennis Lee: i would constantly upgrade my studio equipment an also give back to my family and the community
