CorePreme

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

CorePreme:   I grew up in NYC. My family and I were homeless for the first 10 years of my life. I was also in and out of group homes until my mother got off drugs. Hip Hop was something I feel chose me. I always loved writing poetry, Hip Hop was just seemed like the next step.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

CorePreme:   It was given to me by a now deceased friend. CorePreme means the supreme center. As in patriarch of my family.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

CorePreme:   I give it away on occasion because of the nature of the beast. Its just a cost of doing business at a certain point. Right now, the music industry is in a state of flux. The real money is in residencies and endorsements. I am in talks with Samsung, Beatz by Dre and Hyundai. Everything looks quite profitable and I am hopeful we can work something out.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

CorePreme:   Have a professional attitude, excellent product and long-term thinking. The rest will weed itself out.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

CorePreme:   Yes! It really depends, I have never fell on stage or anything like that, yet! But it is very uncomfortable and the audience gets frustrated. Its bad energy but I try to make my performance that much better.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

CorePreme:   I have toured across 6 continents, 17 countries and 2o cities across the U.S. I will never forget what happened to me in Istanbul, Turkey. There was a bomb scare and I was overlayed at the airport for almost two days.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

CorePreme:   There is no so-called process. It just kind of happens, It usually starts with a strong emotion, a good beat and enough time to myself to relax. Other artists also inspire me.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

CorePreme:   Yes! www.CorePreme.com . I use soundcloud, reverbnation and a whole bunch of other ones .

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

CorePreme:   LOL! Embarrassing? Let me think. I guess it depends on who is listening to my playlist. I guess some of my friends would consider me listening to David Bowie, Elton John or Michael Jackson as embarrassing.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

CorePreme:   First, I wouldn’t take off, I love to work. I would take the money and reinvest it into my various ventures.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

CorePreme:   I am certified in Pro Tools 11 and 12. I have my own studio and I love to use Reason, I have so much stuff, I don’t know where to start.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

CorePreme:   Talking to people in public, and engaging them on social media. I also study the mistakes of the people before me and try to learn from them.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

CorePreme:   I would love to perform with Bob Marley In Jamaica. I love Bob Marley and I love Jamaica.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

CorePreme:   I am auditioning for Empire, I wrote a character that has intricate history with luscious lion. I am performing non-stop and building my other businesses in the process.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

CorePreme:   Talking to people, helping them, trying to find a way to be a better servant of mankind.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

CorePreme:   2Pac, His last album. The seven day theory. I was excited and couldn’t wait to hear it.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

CorePreme:   I have to thank my family and friends. Without them, I would be lost.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
