Connor Morrison’s “Why Aren’t You There Yet?” begins with a difficult question about growing into the person you hoped to become. The San Francisco Bay Area songwriter started writing it after the sudden loss of his grandfather, connecting an early confrontation with mortality to uncertainty about purpose and legacy.
The July 2025 campaign revisited a song begun nearly a decade earlier. Its piano-driven rock arrangement places that inward-looking subject against a full-band chorus. Morrison’s account of its creation centers on feeling stuck while life keeps moving, and on learning to act before every answer is clear. That tension gives the title its point: the question can express pressure from outside, but it can also become the voice someone uses against themselves.
Morrison previously worked in folk-rock duo The Meanderings before developing his solo work. MTS announced the single for July 18, 2025; this feature revisits that original campaign.
