Charlotte’s Confluence music conference is expanding into a larger public-facing event for 2026, pairing three days of industry programming with a new Confluence Music Fest built around more than 45 artists. The conference runs October 7–9, while the live program continues October 8–10 across clubs and an outdoor Saturday finale.
The shift matters because Confluence is not treating the conference and the showcases as separate worlds. Its 2026 format puts working artists, publicists, rights professionals and regional audiences into the same connected schedule—an approach that can make a developing music market more useful to independent artists than a conventional panel-only event.
A regional conference becomes a multi-venue festival
The official Confluence schedule places daytime conference sessions at The Union at Station West, followed by evening showcases in Charlotte music neighborhoods including NoDa, Plaza Midwood and South End. Saturday’s outdoor finale is scheduled for Suffolk Punch South End from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Axios Charlotte reports that the live side has grown from roughly 35 acts and seven shows in 2025 to more than 45 artists and 13 shows this year. Organizers expect the expanded live program to draw 3,000 to 4,000 people, compared with about 1,200 last year, while the conference itself is expected to remain a more focused gathering of 250 to 300 attendees.
What independent artists can take from the program
The conference agenda is built around practical pressure points rather than vague inspiration. Announced sessions include direct-to-fan revenue, artist storytelling, royalty collection, and the effect of artificial intelligence on authenticity and ownership. Those subjects connect the creative side of a release to the less visible work that determines whether an independent career can last.
The live component adds another layer. By spreading showcases across established venues and bringing the program together for a Saturday finale, Confluence is creating repeated chances for artists to be seen in context—not just in a single high-pressure industry slot. For a regional scene trying to deepen its professional network, that continuity may be more valuable than scale alone.
