Boundary has released PROXIMA CENTAURI, an eight-track electronic album that points outward toward science fiction while remaining rooted in the Dominican producer’s experimental practice. The record arrived October 2 and was written entirely by Josué Suero, the Santo Domingo artist behind the Boundary project.

The track list moves from “Title Screen” through “Quien Nos Podra Salvar De Esta,” “Eclipse V,” “Hidden Resonance,” “END OF PARSEC,” “Clearly Defined Results,” “Soul Hacker” and “Asi Nos Han Dejado Todo.” Even before hearing the record, those titles establish the language of systems, distance and transmission that frames the project.

Electronic music as a transmission

Boundary’s Bandcamp tags place the record across experimental electronic music, leftfield house, techno, ambient and looping. Current release coverage has additionally framed the album around the idea of a transmission from Proxima Centauri—a science-fiction device that allows the music to consider hope, technology and the possibility of changing a damaged world.

That premise suits an artist whose work has never needed to remain inside one electronic subgenre. The album’s vocabulary can move between club-derived rhythm and more abstract digital environments without treating either as the “real” center of the project.

Another view from Santo Domingo

Boundary’s location matters in a global electronic landscape that is still too often narrated through a handful of European and North American cities. Suero identifies the project directly with Santo Domingo, and PROXIMA CENTAURI adds another chapter to a body of work that makes experimental electronic music from the Dominican Republic visible on its own terms.

The album is available now through Boundary’s Bandcamp in 24-bit/48kHz digital format. Its eight tracks make a compact case for electronic music as both physical architecture and speculative storytelling—a signal pointed toward somewhere beyond the immediate horizon.
