LYCAN

With choosing my artist name “Lycan” it seemed fit to me with the thought of a shapeshifter or werewolf.  Most that hear it, well in today’s terminology – it means I had to be diverse and fit in everywhere (if I were to survive).

Right now, I just released Crossroads but currently im working on couple different project Rise of the Shapeshifter eps 7 mixtapes of how i became the man before you today. also collaboration with other artist who have the same drive an passion for their music – because at the end of the day, you cant say this is a hobby or side job an expect to get taken serious or even get anywhere, at the end of the day, its a way of life.
Lycan as a known artist maybe not but 2016 each day im not trying im giving it everything. I’m [in] no way shape or form saying i’m talented, but I know I have something people enjoy to listen to. So, I have their attention I’m doing the man hours of researching, creating performing, pretty much being hands on taking opportunities that come – like the one with you guys here at Exposed Vocals. Its a blessed day to even breath let alone get an opportunity truly im on a crossroads with my life right now an no matter how much its kicking me down, wont stop ’til my higher power says “now”.
I respect everyone because at the end of the day, we are equal. When people criticize races or say black killing white, – It’s hard for me to listen. All I see is Americans dying and being that I served in Afghanistan;  I dislike ignorance. But I see how people will come saying things they have only told 1 or 2 people because they hear my music and feel some type of comfort to be open with me. So, my goal is to get people to hear my message and possibly make change. To not commit suicide, to not hold in those emotional life changing event[s]. To be comfortable with your scars.
I’m schizophrenic an have PTSD – its doesn’t mean I have to live up to that label – LYCAN

Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

LYCAN: Truthfully, I never heard about Exposed Vocals until they contacted me. I decided to sign up when I had seen opportunity as an outsource.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

LYCAN: I grew up in Madera, known as the heart of California, it’s one of those small town places where you can get too comfortable or leave as soon as possible.,but somehow always managing to come back.
I wanted to do something that gave me the importance of how I felt when deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 – 2013, an music I always seen artist could change the way we felt an being that I was already writing songs since I was boy to understand how I felt, becoming what I was born to do seemed easy

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

LYCAN: I have always been one to blend an fit in anywhere I was because of the fact I had divorced parents, one side Hispanic other side coacation, also fascinated with native Americans culture belief of shapeshifting an how skin walkers could disguise themselves to a wolf or any other shape of form they desire so to me this meant diversity which was my life. Lycan was perfect

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

LYCAN: At the end of the day, I share positive music of local talent an would hope to get the same in return but not a requirement because this not only better their chances on getting heard by the right person but also helps the music scene for the future of these kids to see they don’t have to sell drugs or join gangs to be somebody. I don’t believe any one should ever be denied music, so yes I do stream music for everybody to hear
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

LYCAN: Always remember that you get what you put in because at the end of the day always keep in mind this is not a hobby or side job so to get taken serious as a artist you must treat it as a way of life.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

LYCAN: Yes, that wouldn’t be to fun to perform perfect every time sounds like a boring re run to me. We are going to mess up an learn from it that beauty of the beast

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

LYCAN: you know craziest thing on tour would probably be having the feeling of actrully being on a tour but not yet very soon

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

LYCAN: simple answer LIFE if I havnt did it or some way shape of form been involved in it I find it hard to gather inspiration, so when I write about my past incident with my dad for example automaticly im in full gear brain storming which draws the emotion that im trying to capture which lets my imagination do the rest I Just sit back an try to keep up.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

LYCAN: http://lycansincebirth.biz youtube,  instam, facebook, soundcloud, reverbnation, twitter, musically, indi all under Lycansincebirth

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

LYCAN: born this way by lady gaga hands down gets the lycan going

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

LYCAN: that’s sounds like $500,000 on a good day, but a year off not sure what that means being that technically I live for my music so take that away for a year an half million dollars is givin to me id probally be in rehab or dead. I rather be broke with my passion than to ever have that much money an no direction.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

LYCAN: I created my own professional studio from the soundproof insulation to the drywall with acoustic foam over it an even the AKG 420 mic. It every true passionate artists wet dream to be able to make music with comfortability at any moment. But upgrade I would be definitely get a mac pro laptop

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

LYCAN: Researching ways also organizations that help market independent music artist like myself, sending emails, creating social networks to even fishing on profiles reading comments to find out whos just talking an who’s making thing happen so it eliminates the middle man for me. also taking each and every opportunity that comes my way like the one here at exposed vocals, so thank you but  At the end of the day no one is looking out for me better than I can but staying,” humble is key but we must spend money sometimes, for the right people to see” Lycan

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

LYCAN: performing hero with Enrique englasis on a street blocked off while the world watches.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

LYCAN: The rise of a shapeshifter eps 1-7 will be dropping soon feb 28 part 1 will be the released. Also a couple of project with two other artist these collaboration will definitely be something to watch out for an if you haven’t checked out lycansincebirth, biz yet be sure to be on the lookout of my new upcoming merchandise shirts an hats alike from my new clothing line “TheLycaNyou”

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

LYCAN: music is my last chance to achieve a feeling that I received in Afghanistan so I already lost one I cant imagine being alive with other the other, so no music means self-destruction.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

LYCAN: Men in Black. I was so excited to hear Will Smith sing after watching him in the movie …… lets just say I went in listening to it thinking I was going to be amazed but it never got replayed

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

LYCAN: I’ll let you know when I figure that out or please do tell because it’s a constant stuggle but than again that’s how you know its truly your passion. “Because if jesus taught me anything its that when truly in believing in ones endeavor your going to suffer.” Lycan

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

LYCAN:  THE RISE OF A SHAPERSHIFTER
