Randy of Exposed Vocals Interview w/ DREADSPERADO

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up on the west side of Detroit, Mi. I never attended school there but I lived there most of my younger years until moving out to Farmington Hills, Mi. It wasn’t a bad neighborhood, thankfully my mother and father were able to provide a roof and meal most of the time. The only hard part of life used to be just, growing up…that was until I hit high school. Once I got around some peers with common music interest, all the music I listened to influenced me to make music. Something people can feel and appreciate, after not getting play for so long I just decided to continue making music but for mself this time. I began by making beats because my crew at the time could/would spit but always on industry beats and they didn’t have the “know-how” of how to go about producing their own music. So I took it upon myself to learn the techniques so we could take this hip-hop thing to the next level. We were all very artistic minded. I don’t hang with that crew of people anymore…well…they suck.Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Yeah, don’t “search” for booking agencies, don’t rely on them. You will most likely get played. I would highly suggest researching talent agencies or modeling firms. The artists should not be the booking agent, it should be someone who honestly cares about you, your artistry, your well-being, and overall brand.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?I rarely do, but I record vocals on my songs for the purpose of performance. My vocals are recorded in a manner that allows my performance voice to sound way more amazing and that a gift that only true concert goers will get.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

I just started, there was an article on it; “DREADSPERADO Signs contract with Shodement; “I’m worried…” ” Founded in 2012, Shodement focuses on the creation of the future music industry and development of artists emerging in the current space. Since launching, the talent network has grown to over 3 million combined views around the world and its creative agency arm has executive on the platform that delivered campaigns for major brands including Vogue, Adidas, Universal Music, Sony Music and SBTV. “Over the years, we have built an international network of brands, executives, large technology companies, service providers and funds to ensure that we support the Shodement portfolio artists in every way possible. Building artists of the future s is our favorite occupation.” So, we sat down with Cel this past Tuesday where we discussed his upcoming world tour. “…we partnered with Shodement because they had reached out to my camp the year prior but I personally didn’t feel ready for that. No doubt I was down to launch my career but deep down, everything just felt rushed.” He goes on to discuss the measures he took to prepare himself for the next chance. “Once I found out that they were truly interested and had intentions of reaching back out to us, I began work on ‘Trip Trap.'” The interview was interrupted by news updates of the Las Vegas, Nevada tragedy. After finding out about the shooters’ relation to ISIS, Cel cut in to say, “It’s things like this that makes me question my safety when I travel. There are places we are touring where they don’t accept American’s and it doesn’t help that I am a ‘minority.’ Our impending situation with N. Korea, recent bombings over seas, the All Lives Matter movements. We are indeed living through dark times and with the growing uses of technology, the “bad news” seem to flood in on a constant flow. “I won’t let that stop me though.” This is where DREADSPERADO stands out from the rest and demonstrates the honor and bravery we must embellish as country and as the true intellects that we all are. “I just have to stay focused on this right now before I can do everything in my power.”

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

I’m anticipating with great anxiety for them to #CutDaCheck Once they do I plan on going all out on music equipment. As for now I have a relationship with Lifeline Nation Studio’s. ( https://www.facebook.com/Life-Line-Nation-Studio-674436862585161/ )

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

I publish my own virtual magazine “CYT Magazine” I review and interview artists, publish a mixtape for the artists I review on my #OnlyNDetroit platform. I host a venue for the mixtape where the artists come to perform and network. I do all the editing and editorials for the most part. www.bandsintown.com/cel-maniller I have a clothing line that I plug into a nice amount of my music at times. I’m a model with My Art My Rules and Nine9 Modeling agency, so I model my own clothes and promote it via Instagram and social media, along with having affiliates rock the gear which expands the brand. All of my ventures support each other and all of my associates have to operate the same way. We have to inhibit a synchronized infrastructure is a key element in my promo campaigns and strategies…

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

I’m going to aim to get on stage with Pusha T, Kendrick Lamar, Lupe Fiasco, Royce Da 5’9, Jaden Smith, Gorillaz & YelaWolf at either Japan’s largest concert or California’s. Like Coachella or Tomorrowland!

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Hell yeah! Right now I’m focused on competing in the Global 12 Tournament in the UK. Shodement reached out to DREADSPERADO to represent America for the 12 greatest artists coming out! I have some shows I’ll be hosting starting the next week or so. The team is accepting submissions for the #OnlyNDetroit Vol. 3 mixtape as of now via MP3 submissions to [email protected] or [email protected] Prior to going on the world tour, I’ll be working on an E.P. for G.O.O.D Music’s (Kanye West/Pusha T) manager; Malik Yusef. I just began managing a few other artists (2-Xclusive 323, MYRA, 777 King Murder of 777Renagade & a few select others) that I’ll be putting a lot of time into helping develop and get organized.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

I’d still be an artists. When I don’t make music, I make other art lol. My life is all art and my personal feng shui is just gnarly AF…

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?

With the promises I’m hearing from the agency, I’d say in a lane close to where Cardi B is currently.
