Exposed Vocals Interviews Cartoonpeezy
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Cartoonpeezy: I first heard of Exposed Vocals from Twitter. Started reading their Artists Music Reviews and was excited for the opportunity to get my own interview. Honestly I haven’t signed up yet however I am really soon.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Cartoonpeezy: I grew up in the south Bronx of New York City. Right by the Bronx Zoo. I have three brothers one is older than me, and five younger sisters. As a kid I was always around music or spotlight you can say. I started Singing in the church choir when I was young and as I grew my voice box has gotten better. During the times of school I used to walked the halls singing out loud not caring who was around me. When I finally finished school I continued to be that way, maybe a little worse as I walked around my block Bronx Park South I used sing my songs everywhere loudly not caring or even worrying who was nearby.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Cartoonpeezy: Well it’s a funny story. One day my little brother Jabez tablet wasn’t working and he drew out the characters from a game he played a lot. After he drew them he cut out the pictures and record himself playing with them making a scenario of his own. A few days later my phone happened to be acting up as well. I couldn’t take pictures something was wrong with my camera. So what I decided to do was draw out my selfie’s and when my camera started working again I would upload. I drew about ten pictures of myself before my camera started working again. Thus Cartoonpeezy was born. I started drawing Concept Peezy’s and Realistic Peezy’s. Example of a concept Peezy is Vampire Peezy. As if I was a Vampire. Get it.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Cartoonpeezy: I feel very strongly about online music sharing. Music brings people together and it could end wars. Yes I have, Actually I given my Fans the option to either purchase my music or simply download for free. I feel even the fans know that this is a business as well as it is music and if they want an artist to make more beautiful music they will support him or her by purchasing their music.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Cartoonpeezy: Never stop working. People everywhere are going to hate on you or wish your downfall just because of their own problems. Don’t let it get to you.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Cartoonpeezy: Yes I have. However I don’t think anyone notice it was a mistake so I improvised and continued with my performance.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Cartoonpeezy: Haven’t toured yet but will soon.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Cartoonpeezy: First I listen to instrumentals sent to me by my friends. Then I simply harmonize to the beat. As soon as I catch a rhythm I start filling in the blanks with words. That is with every song. I tend to get the topic of my message after I get a rhythm for the song.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Cartoonpeezy: I don’t have my own webpage yet however I share my music on ITunes, Googleplay, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Spotify, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook And Datpiff.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Cartoonpeezy: Katy Perry. Why I say it’s embarrassing is because I tend to catch myself singing her music out loud. I mean I catch myself singing her verses even when it’s about her boyfriend. Then I’m like hold up I’m doing too much.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Cartoonpeezy: I would invest it in my music and my cartoons. I would hire animators to help me create a cartoon series. I would start drawing comics and start design clothing based on my cartoons. So even though I was given a year off would only be start of a new job.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Cartoonpeezy: Well I don’t officially have my own studio yet equipment coming in the mail. I work closely with my friend named Oscar. His Label is called grouch productions. Shout out to them.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Cartoonpeezy: Social Media is the best way to share music.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Cartoonpeezy: I would perform with Beyonće in Madison Square Garden. I love Beyonće and I feel she is my Spiritual Music Mother. I would learn a lot from her about music and business and her husband just like a huge plus.
