Fieldy Opens Up About His Separation from Korn: Five Years of Silence
Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, the founding bassist of the legendary nu-metal band Korn, recently revealed that he has not spoken to his former bandmates in over five years. In a candid interview on the Basement Talk podcast, Fieldy discussed his estrangement from the group, his personal journey, and his current musical ventures.
“I Haven’t Talked to Those Guys Since 2019”
During the podcast, Fieldy shared that he has had zero communication with Korn members since 2019. His revelation came as a surprise to fans who had been hopeful for his return to the band following his hiatus in 2021.
“I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019. They’re truckin’. They’re a machine. It’s dope that they can keep on going like that,” he stated. His tone was neither bitter nor resentful, emphasizing that there is no animosity between him and his former bandmates. Instead, he seemed at peace with where things currently stand.
The Hiatus and Korn’s Continued Success
Fieldy officially stepped away from Korn in 2021, citing personal reasons, including the need to work on his “bad habits.” Korn respected his decision and continued their tour with Suicidal Tendencies’ Ra Díaz filling in on bass. Since then, Korn has remained a powerhouse in the rock and metal scene, continuing to perform and release new music while Fieldy focused on his personal growth and other musical endeavors.
Despite the distance, Fieldy did not express any hard feelings about his former bandmates continuing without him. Instead, he acknowledged their momentum, calling them “a machine” that continues to push forward.
Fieldy’s New Musical Path: Stillwell
While his time with Korn remains on pause, Fieldy has not stepped away from music altogether. He has been actively working on his band Stillwell, a project that includes P.O.D. drummer Noah “Wuv” Bernardo. According to Fieldy, the band is currently revamping their sound to make it heavier, which aligns with what many fans have been hoping for.
“We’re working on something way heavier than before, which is what people were wanting from us anyway,” Fieldy noted in the interview. This shift could mark a new chapter in his musical career, offering longtime fans something fresh while still keeping elements of his signature style alive.
What’s Next for Fieldy and Korn?
As for a potential reunion with Korn, Fieldy remained vague. With no recent communication and both parties moving in separate directions, it remains uncertain whether he will ever rejoin the band that he helped form. Fans, however, continue to hold out hope that one day he will pick up his bass again alongside Jonathan Davis, Munky, and Head.
For now, Fieldy appears content focusing on his own personal and musical journey, while Korn continues to dominate the nu-metal landscape. One thing is clear—his influence on the band’s legacy remains undeniable.
