In this story

California groove-metal band DevilDriver came out of the gate fast with Trust No One, the band’s seventh studio album. The Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Daybreak” reported 12,219 copies sold in the first week, nearly 1,000 more than the previous album, Winter Kills.

The chart run

The album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 43, along with No. 3 on Top Hard Music Albums, No. 4 on Independent Current Albums, No. 16 on Top Current Albums, No. 26 on Digital Albums and No. 37 on Top Internet. It made six consecutive Billboard 200 debuts across a career of nearly 15 years. “We all worked very hard on this record,” Dez Fafara said, thanking Napalm Records, Mercenary Management and the fans. “Keep It Heavy!”

Melody and monster riffs

The campaign describes Trust No One as ten groove-driven tracks that meld memorable melodies with monster riffage, with “Daybreak” and “My Night Sky” as examples. The band toured North America with Hatebreed, The Devil You Know and Act of Defiance, then Europe, with festival stops including Rocklahoma, River City Rockfest, Wacken, Brutal Assault and Alcatraz.

Why it was in the inbox

Seven albums in, DevilDriver were still selling more in week one than the time before. “Daybreak” shows why.
